By themselves, Rin has the edge. With a midfielder like Sae, Shidou takes it in terms of goal scoring. Sae drastically elevated Shidou’s already great level of play. Flow state Rin hypothetically should be much better though.

totally agree that's a thing i feel like blue locks fandom miss the way kaiser - rin - isagi plays is not the way of being the best "striker" they are playing more of a playmaking tactical role they play more like inzhagi ( the player isagi was inspired by ) - firmino - benzema those strikers while being good they won't score as much as pure scorers ( ronaldo - zlatan - suarez ) the strikers that does not playmake and only use their ability to finish and score will always score more than the strikers that playmake - defend - pass in terms of pure strikers in blue lock barou and shidou are the closest and maybe nagi ps: dont bring messi up he is not of this world to be compared here he is the only player in history to be the best playmaker- dribbler-striker-passer

As a pure striker, shidou is everything that you would want. He goes into the penalty box and you know that if you get a pass to him he will score. Where Rin has a much more versatile moveset and can use his skills to guarantee a goal more optimally and consistently.

you're forgetting about reproducibility. Those two badass goals shidou scored were enabled by passes from itoshi sae. Without a player willing to sumbit to shidou's arrogance and enable him to score he's basically worthless. Rin's goals are based on his own ability and with the singular exception of the final goal the second time he faces Isagi in the second selection every single one of rin's goals is reproducible. Formulaic goals have more value than miraculous ones.

having a direct shot is honestly the best thing for a striker. for a *pure* striker that is prob the greatest weapon. being able to shoot at goal without trapping the ball first on target every time coupled with isagi’s metavision no one can be in his future making it impossible for anyone to block his strike isagi is defintely going to be THE striker for japan in the world cup. soccer is a team game, but bluelock is to find THE striker and isagi's direct shot makes him THE striker. no one can catch up to his future so he will ALWAYS score.

Like rachi said about Kaiser if I had a super strong mid fielder I score super sexy goals too. Even though u-20 blue team was built around rin every blue lock player had one goal in mind score the goal themselves and change their future. Where as once shidou came in the game sae told them basically move for the sake of shidous goal. Which you see cause the the u-20 striker starts imitating isagi movement around rin. To give shidou more freed to move and make plays. Also you see that while in highschool Rin is completed forced to change is play style when sae leaves. His teammates are not as good. So rin has the choice of staying selfish striker and losing. Or he can change and I think this were he started to develop his puppet master football. Where he can manipulate in predict your actions, so that he can score a goal make or his teammate score a goal. Rin and shidou both play off instinct kinda. Sae told rin he relied to much on his instincts when they used to play together. Rin response is well I have you so I know if I go to the most critical point in the defense you’ll always get me the ball. I say all this because if rin had sae as his cam rin would probably score every possession. I think if rin had awakened earlier we would have looked at that u-20 match a lot different. Rin hasn’t had a team yet where he was allowed to only focus on scoring. If he doesn’t play make and defend his team will simply get overwhelmed.

Ryusei being my favorite. With his skill set, ego, and overall talent throughout the story. I’m so scared of seeing what he’ll do in the neo-egoist league. Cause shidou has been doing nothing but monstrous plays, and how he’s prompt up to be self sufficient and in need of almost no one’s help. Like shidou literally was so much of a monster that he probably survived his team getting kicked early on since he probably made the most goals. When he had the liability that is igaguri as his teammate he could take on both reo and kunigami effortlessly by himself. Even securing 2 of the goals of u-20’s 3 goals Vs all of blue lock’s goals being secured by different players. Nagi, barou, rin, and isagi. I think the mangaka might’ve just realized that he made shidou too good. Like he was an absolute unstoppable force of an egoist soccer player, so to even things out amongst him and other characters in the story from that point on. First sign of shidou saying paraphrasing “I’ll start being more mindful on the field to get more explosions” or something. Like Icarus flying too close to the sun. I’m praying I’m wrong about all this, cause I just wanna see that mfer explode more and more out there on the field(pause)

Currently Iv'e watched only until 9:35 but this is my opinion so far: I think that Shidou really wouldn't be able to do much without Sae that doesn't mean he's bad it just means he can't create his own goals against a talented enough defense, but that leads me to the question: does a striker need to create his own goals or does he need to be a piece of the team that is there only to finish a play and score the goal? Either way I think RIn does both these things which as well as being an overall better player means he has more possibilities to scoring goals, so even though Shidou's goal scoring ability is clearly better i think Rin is a better striker. P.S. That's just my opinion :)

Rin can play on all team and work well with almost all player, well Shidou almost plays every game 1 vs 21. I prefer Rin in most situation, and still think he is a better striker, like what you said, there are no Sae lying around for Shidou. In terms of of players stats and what they got in their arsenal, no one can deny rin is well above shidou. But the only thing that matters is who is the better striker and who has the best potential. Shidou is better than rin in both. Although his ideology of 1v21 may be a problem sometimes it’s only because he hasn’t fully reached his potential. The fact that shidou specialty is just scoring by getting in the box from any angle is insane. Followed up by his physical impact he can go for many great plays. If he improves his first touch, starts making his own plays and take initiative like nagi is trying to do, and starts to focus more on using dribbling to create space. He will be the most dangerous striker to touch the ball and can guarantee a goal if he touches the box

I think another thing to mention that people tend to forget and why people continue to be brain dead and put characters like Nagi of all characters over Shidou, is that Ego himself literally said Shidou scored every single goal he made by himself, even he re-stated it, to get the point across, people really only try to say Shidou was being Carried by Sae because they ain’t actually read the U-20 match, considering another thing, Shidou was able to no-look goal with his heel in the 3rd selection, and he’s got amazing reading abilities, let’s not act like Shidou didn’t spend his first entrance destroying Kunigami and Reo, with ease and even read them perfectly, it’s crazy, Shidou is such a powerful character that gets underrated when it comes to skill because people tend not to understand his abilities/philosophy/character

No, cuz I love Rin, he’s absolutely amazing and he’s arguably the best player but you’re so right when you say Shidou is a better striker. I think Rin would perform better most of the times BUT just give Shidou a proper team and I think Rin would low key pale. Not saying Rin sucks, again he’s absolutely amazing, but I think it’s unfortunate that Rin is just a godly character that gets overshadowed by everyone despite being the best. I mean if Isagi could steal the spot light from him, you think Shidou would not as a striker? Shidou is just built differently. Rin is the better overall player, whilst Shidou is the better scorer. Rin can use his teammates, and can actually perform team plays with most teammates (when he's not insane) but can generally score by himself most efficiently, and Shidou just wants to score by himself in the nastiest way possible. Their playstyles are different in the sense that, one thinks of ways to destroy defense and the other goes with the flow. Plus, Rin uses his eyes to proactively defend, whilst Shidou only defends near the goal and close to crunch time. So take you pick, a natural scoring machine or a balanced (but kinda insane) machine.

Being a striker is waaaay more than finishing. Dribbling, understanding positions as tactics are a major part of the job (and the manga shows how important that is, cause those are the weapons of the literal mc). While Rin has all of those thing in his pocket, Shidou can ONLY finish, he can’t really create his own shot. Like, sure Klay Thompson shoots the ball better than James Harden, but he can’t create his shots like James can (or could in his prime), so is Thompson a better SG just because he can shoot better? I don’t think so. Rin is the closest player from blue lock to the level of the new gen 11

Shidou has shown insane football IQ when he immediately explained how Kunigami and Reo's playstyles worked, has extreme spatial awareness/positioning, and an erratic dribble thats not the best but its hard to follow, and an insane finishing.
