The night this audio came out my parents had an enormous fight. I have a 6 year old sister, and so I took her away from the shouting and made noise and played with her and helped her to sleep. When I heard the song I cried so much because I remembered being her age and being all alone, and I had been holding and protecting my sister in a way that no one held me. So the title/refrain has a double meaning, holding my younger self in my head as my current self, and holding my sister in her stead, taking care of her in all the ways I can, because I didn't have anyone to take care of me but she does.

so many themes of freedom and independence are in this video that I love. Rina said she wrote this after a therapy session and was just crying. We often put a lot on ourselves due to whatever we go through but this video showcases that the only one holding you back is truly yourself and to fully move forward is embracing your inner self and working through those imperfections/struggles. Lady Gaga level? Is that supposed to be good?
@louschwick73012 жыл бұрын
@@Starkardur yes. Gaga is a classically trained NYU undergrad child piano prodigy with a mastery of various historical musical genres and a very strong instinct for monstrously catchy hooks. She is a powerful vocalist and great dancer in platform heels. She's been performing live since she was 15, and is more at home on stage than I presume her childhood room. She nearly danced thru an injured hip live in concert. She was THE pop star of the 2008-13 pop boom ... oh wait were u talking about lyrical content? lol. "ra ra ra ah ah ga ga ooh la la" is the best u can hope for Even when she's trying to be deep and meaningful, her turns of phrase usually fly as well as a goat, more often than not very blunt and obvious. Look at born this way, for example. Angel down is serious Gaga done right but it's the only example I can think of that I'd say is really good

@@louschwick7301 I so far have not seen Gaga's impressive piano skills, yes she's playing the piano but it's basic level 4 thing and as she has yet to compose a 3 songs of her own, I fail to see what's so masterful about what she does. every time you get pushed down, you stand up again. no one can even graze you now. humbling yourself by repenting for sins you never committed. healing generational dysfunctional by refusing to give up your artistic integrity. 2022 is a musical release I never could’ve imagined, growing up. Music is very honest now

The song just makes me cry, honestly. I also want to remember the ball of sunshine that I once was. Now I only have regrets because I know my younger self would be disappointed of what I have become.😭

I've been running away from my past for so long without ever coming to terms with it. This song and video are beautiful aesthetically and meaningfully. I've been reminded that to truly love myself in the present, I need to embrace who I used to be, because she deserved love too.

When I first heard this song I still thought I was nonbinary but hearing this made me realize that I was pushing my femininity away because of past trauma, I realized that I’m truly just gender fluid and now I mostly identify as I woman, thank you Rina for helping me find myself.

I'm surprised at how good this song and video are !! She is an artist that I don't listen to, just follow because she has potential. And wow, I didn't even think she had THIS potential !! This song seems like straight out of the 90s masterpieces era.
