Had he played for England they would have won the world cup many times over. No goalkeeper have come close to his brilliance so far. Having watched so many series of world cups, Euros and Olympic, I still could find any goalkeeper tah could ever match this brilliant man. He's certainly missed by many. The best ever.

What a great goalkeeper he was. Ondoubtedly one of the best of his area, top10 of all times in my opinion. And strange enough, the goalkeeper who also will be remembered by one of the most iconic goals ever, Van Basten his volley in the Euro88 final. That remarkable goal deserved a classstyle goalkeeper like Dassayev was.

same here, I used to play as GK and despite Italy has a tradition of best GK (at that time we had plenty), I was completely shocked to see Dasaev in action, especially with shot at short distance, he had impressive reaction time.

Amazing GK and certainly one of the greatest of all time. Unfortunately he is been sadly forgotten, because due to the rules in Soviet he never played for any giant european FC that's why most of the people specially young generation don't him or how amazing he was.

I struggle to pick one : him, Harald Schumacher or Jean Marie Pfaff. Hans van Breukelen was excellent too, but since he started mostly in late 80s, I exclude him from the list. In terms of penalty stopper, it will be a split decision between Pfaff and Schumacher. Add to Schumacher great reflex, I pick the German over Pfaff. But in other days, I wouldn't mind Pfaff as the 1st option. Van Basten goal at Euro 88 made me a bit disappointed with Dassayev, thinking he could have done better being considered as the best in that era.
