Ringo really nailed this. Let It Be's director had some sort of weird ax to grind. Through manipulative editing, he shaped a very bitter viewpoint of The Beatles in Let It Be. When you watch Peter Jackson's series, he presents so much more of the footage in chronological order and you get a more honest, unbiased picture of what was going on with The Beatles at that time. I'm so happy and thankful to Peter Jackson for doing that. It was all a joy to watch, even the in-fighting and arguments.
@WinkDaMan075 ай бұрын
Peter Jackson even revealed more context behind Paul and George's famous argument, "Look, I'll play whatever you want me to play, or I won't play at all if you don't want me to play."
@tygerstripes37525 ай бұрын
@@WinkDaMan07 I agree. All the context Jackson gives reveals the background behind the hateful soundbites that the Let It Be director parsed and edited. Plus the chronology reveals the way that the LIB director and others wanted to manipulate The Beatles into travelling in order to fabricate a 'Big Ending' to the film. They were wise to say no to all of that.
@easterntrees5 ай бұрын
boy, are you ever drinking McCartney's kool aid. the Jackson film is propaganda made to support the happy beatles myth McCartney has been pushing for thirty years. it's all mythology that reduces the band to cartoon characters, perfectly in harmony and perfectly marketable too. don't take my word for it. listen to all 96 hours of the nagra reels and then you'll know. this was a miserable period for all of them, including McCartney. Lindsay Hogg's version of the recording of let it be is accurate. Jackson's is pure fantasy. while I'm at it, the assertion that Lindsay Hogg wanted to 'manipulate' the beatles into performing at an exotic venue is completely false. in actuality that was McCartney's idea, and nobody else wanted to do it because they were tired of McCartney's show business objectives after magical mystery tour and wanted to go home. Lennon and Harrison were increasingly feeling they had better things to do than the beatles and McCartney wasn't helping. you have a lot of research to do if you want to understand the band's objective history, not the cartoon McCartney version. if you're interested I suggest you start with Lewisohn day by day and recording sessions.

@thewilythylacine5 ай бұрын
@@easterntreesIt’s clear that you have an anti-McCartney bias for whatever pathetic reason (jealousy perhaps?). But the history shows that, although they were having a difficult time working together during the “Get Back” sessions, they were quite amicable and happy to work together (according to George Martin and numerous other witnesses at the time) on “Abbey Road” and were even working on plans for the album they would do after that. However, as a group, but especially Lennon and Harrison, they were ready to move on, even if just temporarily to doing their own thing, but clashing egos and uncomfortable contractual entanglements (John and Yoko’s blind faith and support for Allen Klein) made it extremely difficult if not impossible to work together again.

What I love about the series it shows our hero's (The Beatles) as real people. We as fans have a tendency to put our heroes on a pedestal and see them as gods. The Beatles were 4 very talented charismatic human beings that experienced life in much the same way we all do. Seeing them as human is far better than worshiping them as untouchable deities. There will never be another group like the Beatles. It's great to see Ringo looking so healthy and vibrant. I hope I can age as well as he has.

I got to see Paul in concert in the 90's. Had to be the slickest rock show ever IMHO. Made me think what a Beatles show could have been if they had access to modern rock show staging and sound. They were a great live act in the early days that transitioned to a studio band due to the craziness around their concerts and the limitations of what of their recorded songs could be reproduced live. Then the roof top concert showed that given the right circumstances a live Beatles show was possible. Then it all fell apart.

For example at the end of get back part one it seems to show John, Paul and ringo hugging because George left the band. This footage was manipulated it was not reality. Also all of Yokos input was cut out .. if you listen to the nagra tapes etc .. her input and impact on the goings on was watered down in get back .. a bit of a whitewashing to be honest .
