Rings of Power Reviews now have 4 episodes of season 2 to go off, half the season. Yet despite cramming half the season into 2 weeks, the marketing isn't as strong as you'd expect in such a short time. This could have been planning to perfection and instead we just got shipping from The Acolyte. While this is a great tactic for the Rings of Power target audience, it's not great for the audience of Tolkien. Which is a problem when adapting Lord of the Rings! So we dive into the cringe of shipping, and the journalists who defend it, at this point I just wonder if the showrunners realise what they're doing and intentionally changing the target demographic audience. Or whether they're incapable of understanding anything outside their own worldview. But what did you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

Check out Ralph Bakshi's 1970s animated Lord of the Rings movie. You can find the full film for free right here on KZbin. It's actually really kickass in a retro way. There was supposed to be a second film that was never made, so it's not the whole book, but watch it. Jackson basically stole that whole animated film, down to frames, camera angles, character posture and the ton of the line delivery. Verbatim dialogue from that movie was copied by Jackson. Of course, some of that dialogue comes from the book, so it's not surprising it shows up in the animated film, Jackson's movies, and this show, given the show pretty much only has the rights to LOTR. But damn was I was shocked by how much of Jackson's movies are exactly lifted from that animated movie. I mean EXACTLY. He's just as guilty of what you're accusing the show of being guilty of, but because it was animated and the 70s that wasn't meant to be a hit for the masses, nobody cares.

Nobody talks about how the original fans, whether they were male or female, we mainly nerds that at heart are known for being smart and intellectual people. We loved these stories because they were detailed, complex and ‘technical’. Studios have now bought the IP given it to dumb writers, show runners and actors etc and they have dumbed down plots to ‘shipping’, thirst traps and very boring stories that regurgitate modern identify politics . There is nothing mentally or creatively challenging for the nerdy mind there anymore as they try to sell these basic watered down ‘concepts’, with all complexity sucked out, to the lowest denominator of the ‘modern audience’. This is why they are soulless husks of the stories we once loved. In short, we are living ‘the Idiocracy’ time line.

I think she watched too many b-movies on MST3K thinking the bad-movies were examples of something to admire rather than to actual hate with disdain to the point where one should be administering high levels of mocking upon them…but then again, she was a bit to squirrelly with her sexual innuendos, & was too dry/withdrawn in MST3K girl-bossing it up terribly which was distasteful if not disheartening, at least she still is cute, but that’ll fade soon. Sauron was supposed to be a pseudo Promethean figure generating religious engineering in Harad and Rhûn with the metallurgical revolution he made in the east and south. Plus I have a sort of morbid curiosity; it is like passing a car wreck, we say we don't want to see managed body parts all over the road but we break our necks to try to see if there are any. I watch to see how much worse can it get (not "if" but "how much"). I do have to admit that like Disparu, I zoned off during the Isuldur and whats her name scene. I didn't actually fall asleep like he did but when Disparu started talking about Isildur talking about his mother drowning, I had no memory of that despite knowing I'd watched the scene.

I still find it funny seeing how they desperately try to roll their R's. Even the interviewer, when she said "Mirrrriel", spending 2 seconds on that R. I'm pretty sure the studio forces them to take diction classes, but you can tell it's not natural. Like when someone from the anglo-sphere tries to properly speak in a very articulated language (italian, japanese, russian etc) and they spend 3 seconds rolling their R's because their tongue just isn't formed for that kind of language. 🤣

To be fair, I have been saying "they" should just sexualize men more if they are so offended by the "oversexualization" of women in media. But that advice only applies if they stop hating on people that like content that "oversexualizes" women. Sex sells, pretending otherwise is just dumb and the fact every single thing that makes a point of explicitly not sexualizing its characters fails miserably just proves it. People like looking at attractive people, it is human nature to like idealized forms.
