Shoot, I just realized my issue is I haven’t been duplicating the camera animator. Since I was only using one with multiple framing animations, motion was doing all sorta of weird things. I also tried to make orient to current work, but you’re definitely right, orient to final is much better. Was having all sorts of weird glitches driving me insane haha. Wow, I must say your channel is a goldmine. Without you I would’ve been screwed (not enough motion stuff out there!)

They do some pretty incredible animation! I’ll be honest though, that’s just something I don’t know how to do. You’re going to want to watch some animation tutorial channels to learn how to do what they do. I’m not sure how much of it is possible in Motion.
@ishaan96712 жыл бұрын
@hill north ikr But kurzgesagt in a nutshell they use After Effects for that. That just shows how apple motion is a little outdated in the number of features as compared to after effects and fusion.
@ishaan96712 жыл бұрын
Fusion takes it on an whole other level. Its too over the top for 2d animation like how i was saying
@ishaan96712 жыл бұрын
@hill north Even i use davinci resolve its free and you have to many features to count. Its just i find fusion very confusing for a normal average video editor or a vfx artist. But if you get the hang of it then you can do wonders with it

It is nice to see, that if you place a 3D object on the map, like the 'rock', it just follows the perspective of the map, without having to do something about it! My next step will be making an animated line, which follows one of the rivers on the map. (well....almost!)

I saw you moving down the x axis but I've been trying to get 360 spins and other angles but the map just keeps flipping in all different directions. This is such a great tutorial. I’ve been doing this work in Google Earth Studio, but wanted to do the same thing on historical maps. So Thanks for making this possible! That said… for your amusement… I did this tutorial a dozen times before I got it to work… I kept putting that framing and position elements in sequential order in the layers panel.. but putting ‘one’ above ‘two’ makes the second movement not work! Researching motion to better understand why the timeline behaves that way :) I’m a total motion noooob!

Hello Dylan. I love your motion tutorials. Can you maybe make a tutorial on how to incorporate voice over in a motion clip? I know how to add audio but that’s it, I can’t trim/add a gap in a sentence or shorten it, etc. I hope this makes sense.
@TheFinalCutBro2 жыл бұрын
Totally makes sense! So Motion is just not designed for audio very well. Basically all you can do is trim by using I and O for in and out points. But you can’t trim something down in the middle like you would in Final Cut Pro, unless you create multiple layers of the same audio file. Trim it down on each layer, and slide them closer together on the timeline. So I would recommend doing all your audio beforehand in something like FCP, and then import when you’re ready into Motion.
@nohaelbaroudy2 жыл бұрын
@@TheFinalCutBro thanks a lot. at least now I know I’m not missing anything in motion’s audio department 🙈

@inknpaintCW2 жыл бұрын
This is great! I was watching to see how you addressed all the elements. Super efficient and effective! Is there a way to add specific bump or texture to the image to give it a dry parchment feel? I would normally bring the image into 3D apps and animate the camera, it's focal point and DOF just to give me the flexibility with rendering textures but it would be great if I can get the same effect in Motion. As usual, great job!
@TheFinalCutBro2 жыл бұрын
I tried to get a bump map going on the map, but I was having trouble! I just don’t think Motion is cut out to do that. You probably could export a version of the map with actual displacement and import that to Motion though! (haven’t tried that)

You can achieve the movements without drawing the squares right? Trying to determine if they’re necessary. Great tut.
@TheFinalCutBro2 жыл бұрын
Yes you definitely can! But the squares make it the easiest to animate the camera. Keyframes can be an absolute pain, especially in 3D space. You can also use circles, or really anything you like. But the squares were easiest for me.

ive tried following this but the camera isnt going to the rectangle for the shot, its increasing the rectangle size and moving towards the enlarging rectangle. Does anyone know what to do?
@TheFinalCutBro Жыл бұрын
It sounds like you might not have map as a 3D layer. Make sure that it is 3D. Your rectangle likely is 3D, and so it's increasing in scale when the camera is moving forward. Hope that helps!
@franklinfisher497 Жыл бұрын
@@TheFinalCutBro how do i make sure the map is a 3d layer? i thought everything becomes 3d when you add the camera?
@TheFinalCutBro Жыл бұрын
@@franklinfisher497 it’s a little bit difficult to explain the icon, but I’ll do my best! In the layers panel, look on the right side. You should see a small icon next to each layer. One icon looks like 3 rectangles of various sizes. The other type of icon looks like 3 squares at a slide 3D angle stacked on top of each other. The 3D angle icon indicates it’s a 3D layer. If it looks like 3 rectangles at different sizes, go ahead and click it and it will switch over to 3D. When you add a camera, it asks if you want to make everything 3D. It’s possible that you might have bumped no. I do that sooooo often it’s not even funny anymore 😂. Hoping that helps!
