Nationwide arena in my opinion is better than some of the newer sports venues you see these days. When you go to more Jackets games more often, you start to get used to the cannon instead of being scared of it. As for me, that what happened. It’s a beautiful venue with some awesome amenities. Don’t let the cannon prevent you from having a fun time.

When you're visiting as a member of the visiting team - that cannon is not fun. haha. But that's the appeal of it. but agreed - highly recommend visiting this rink. It's gorgeous.

We used to call Nationwide the jailhouse. The grounds of what used to stand where the arena is now, was a penitentiary built in 1859. It shut down in the mid 60's that stood empty for almost 30 years until they tore it down. Some of the local clairvoyants will tell you the place is cursed by the spirits of the prisoners. I think 3 people died constructing the arena and the tragic flying puck that hit the teenage girl.

An Original Mascot Of Columbus's Was Boomer The Cannon But Now Has Stinger The Fly-Like Insect Because Boomer Was Probably Not Child Friendly Since He Was Phallic Shaped!😉

Took my boy there two weeks ago vs The Rangers.. love that barn so much. We had a “blast” I think my son was the youngest fan that night at only 10 months old.. but he looked so cute in his Jacket jersey I got him for Christmas!!

I don't follow hockey but my dad's side of the family is from Ohio. Why would the NHL give Ohio's first NHL team to Columbus instead of Cleveland or Cincy?

Columbus is the only growing city in the state and has been for awhile now. The only other professional sports competition is an MLS team.
