I don't think a single healthy person was siding with Jewel in this movie. She really didn't give a crap about Blu hating the jungle despite going there for her, turns a blind eye to his reasoning and blames him for being self-centered. There's a deleted scene with Blu confronting Jewel in their argument, telling her "I thought I was your one-and-only, but I guess I was just the only one", which would've made the movie much more fair and satisfying

I'm at least happy that Jewel offered to spend summers in the city instead of forcing Blu to permanently live in the forest and never see Linda again. His family may thrive in the wild, but Blu is a domesticated bird who has been in human care since he was a baby. It would've been pretty selfish of Jewel and the kids to permanently force Blu into a dangerous environment he wasn't raised to live in just because they like it. His well-being matters, too. Also, Roberto is the goat. He's just there to vibe.

Having Nigel as the main villain again was actually kinda neat. They really keep it clear that he is Blu's archnemesis throughout Rio's short-lived tenure as a franchise. Kinda reminds me of Sonic and Eggman with him always being the main villain to Sonic with a few exceptions.

@PGO5490 I mean, like I said, Rio's a short-lived franchise, especially with Blue Sky's closure, but Nigel's continued appearances across the franchise had him as main acting antagonist (the shared role with Marcel in the first film notwithstanding), and it felt like a decent enough comparison at the time... granted, comparing a sulphur-chested cockatoo who hates pretty birds due to being replaced as a TV star when he got older to an evil scientist who spends his time putting animals into robots and trying to take over the world is kinda outrageous, but they're both vain, petty, and fight blue animals as their rivals while stopping at nothing to get their way, so it kinda works...

Sure, he was an evil dick who tried to keep Blu and his then love interest captive for money, but being made to never fly again would be brutal by bird standards (unless you'te a chicken). Just don't go too ham and Eduardo would probably buy it.
