Interesting video. When I was a kid in the 70’s, I was living in New Jersey. A commercial for Rio Rancho Estates was shown and I was impressed with the place. I wanted to go to New Mexico because the state looked different and inviting. But, my family was quick to point out that there was no family in New Mexico and as a family, we go where family is. Thus, that dream was shot down. As I got older, my interest in New Mexico returned. My only problem is which city or town is where I feel I can belong. I am 57 and I enjoy long walks, , bike riding, music, listening and playing music (I play the tenor saxophone), single with no children or pets(but I’d like a puppy one day). New Mexico may be the place for me because I want to get out of Florida so bad. I’ll have to visit the state and have a good look around. So far, Santa Fe and Las Cruces look like good options.

Life is short might as well try it out or take an extended vacation there and see if it’s a nice fit

This hotel is almost done with renovation. You should do an update for real time reporting.

This video tugged at my heart strings. I lived in RR for almost 19 years not far from the Amrep building until my husband passed away. Truly loved living there. As for the Inn I had heard apartments may be built there. The park above is a very special place. North beach is pretty too. Lovely area.

I lived in Rio Rancho as a young teen in the seventies. We used to hang out at Haynes Park and since Rio Rancho had no police back then, only Sandoval County occasional cops. A bunch of us would gather there to smoke our weed out in the open. Boy, have things changed.

The Inn at RR was a great meeting place too bad it was so poorly maintained. Even the orig bathrooms when it was built were never replaced up into the 20014....

In it’s day, it was the only hotel in the area. Some well known people stayed there. I worked there as a night auditor while going to UNM.

Feedback on a past Bosque video in which you said you would like to see the riverfront developed like San Antonio (or someplace). Please consider that Albuquerque is one on the few (only?) cites to be blessed with a complete riverine environment. The city elders have done well in recognizing this treasure. Let’s leave them critters be. Thank you.

Awesome video, used to live there in the mid-2000's with my family and didn't know the history of it. Always loved the rolling hills, walking trails, and view's of the Sandia's though! There was such an amazing view of the mountains from our old home, wondering how the city is doing as a whole and if we should make the move back someday. Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and Las Cruces have really made an impression on my bf and I as we miss the desert scenery. I was born in AZ and him in Southeast CO, would love to see more videos about the beauty of New Mexico! Thank you.

Intel isn't what it used to be but the campus is much, much larger than your video portrays it. Although RR is a thriving city with expansive views of the surrounding mountains your video focused on a rundown motel giving the notion that the city doesn't have much going for it.

Hello, thank you for your comment. Although I would love to film the full intel campus , I don't have the access or clearance. Abandoned buildings seem to garner a large audience and interest on KZbin .

True, I am interested in abandoned places, and most of Rio Rancho is just tract homes. It’s probably the least New Mexico feeling city and the most boring, plain and basic.

I've heard residents say recently that RR's "flat broke". If true then with its long extant population of ~ 98K, either corporate and/or property taxes are too low, government expenditures are too high, top government officials are overpaid, there's too little capital infusions from outside investors, population and/or overall development growth rate is happening too fast chasing too many public services and/or high foreclosure rate. Please provide feedback before I make the possible mistake of retiring to this community in the Land of Enchantment.

I bought land there in the middle of nowhere. It all depends on where and HOW you want to live. I WANT my OWN land!!! If I want a horse, I can have one. I have to cart in water and go solar, but I don't mind. If you want and can afford a $300,000, you'll do just fine! Go visit, see how you like it.

Not pointless, people find abandoned buildings fascinating. Glad I did too, it's completely changed now. I saved that historic place on film in perpetuity!
