I'm a lifelong Yes fan. Very saddened at the news today. Alan White was a terrific drummer who contributed much to the band, and a consummate gentleman, so warm, welcoming, and humble--I seriously have never heard a bad word about him, and that is very telling. R.I.P. Mr. White!

I met Alan White at a YES Meet and Greet. He was a very kind man. I was sitting alone at a table and he came over and sat down next to me. He spoke with me as if he knew me his entire life. I met him at other times but that is my favourite memory of him. You are missed,Alan but I know you are in Rock and Roll Heaven playing drums with the other greats- Neil Peart,Taylor Hawkins,Charlie Watts, etc. Your music will live on! Love you!❤

Great Drummer!! Any drummer that could seamlessly replace Bill Buford, and see Yes through a new era of success(90215) has got to be world class. I get the impression he was as well a great person. May peace be with him.👍🏼

Very sad at this news, which just learned of. For some years I thought - who could ever be measured (in a Yes context) alongside Bruford? But then I realised how great is the drumming on Relayer in particular but also Going for the One. And that led to the inescapable conflusion - White was a monumental percussionist.

YES has been my favorite band since I was 14 yrs old. I am now 60 yrs old so YES and I have a bit of history together. What always attracted me to this band is that their music was always upbeat and positive. Never angry. Even though I have never met any of rhese guys, I consider them to be friends. They were with me in good times and bad times even if they didn't know it. The death of Chris and now Alan have left a big hole in my heart. I do take some comfort in knowing Chris and Alan are playing together again in Heaven and the Angelic choir now has the best rhythm section ever!

Alan lived in Auburn... with Paul Rodgers house and Sir-Mix-A-Lot ! Gated community. He played on "Instant Karma", "Imagine" and "Give Peace a Chance". Lennon. Then George Harrison asked him to play drums on "All Things Must Pass". Wow. Met Alan many times. Miss him.

Chris Squier, Rick Wakeman, & Bill Bruford were my friends in the band,. As I said before, Bill was married to Christine, my girlfriend's sister! I saw Rick years later and started to reintroduce myself, but he cut me off and said"RITCHIE! how hAVE YOU BEEN!" imagine my surprise, after hie years with YES, and meeting thousands of people, he remembered me!

I love Yes. I grew up with the Drama era forward when I was 8 when the album was released in 1980. I get my great music from my parents who are just hitting their 80s. I would of loved to see Yes in the 70s! Right around the Tormato tour! When they played in the round! I've seen Yes 7 times since 90125. And every show (except the Anderson, Rabin Wakeman shows) Alan was always there. Love Alan!

I personally think that Alan was the better drummer for Yes than Bill. Nothing against Bill at all but listen to Yes Songs which features both drummer and there is quite a difference between their styles. So very sad at Alan’s passing, another musician who will be greatly missed. I first heard Yes in 1973 aged 17, I grew up with them, saw them live, great memories.

I agree, I prefer Alan's straight-forwardness with rhythym and playing in general. His playing is quite bold and musical. I think Bill often obfiscates and waxes as being intelligent but at times lacks emotion. But thats my opinion. Both are great talents, I just prefer Alan White in Yes.

Only YES drummer I've ever seen live. He was just always there. Different Guitarists....Different singers...and of course Keyboard players. I saw 5. All leaving us. Jon will outlive them all....he is from a different planet after all

You may be correct. I remember many years ago (10+ years ???) I heard Jon was quite ill with some sort of respiratory ailment and I was scared that he may be the first one we lost. How wrong I was. He may outlive me.

To me this isn't really Yes. A reasonabe facsimile there of. No Jon Anderson. That's like trying to replace LIndsey Buckingham with 2 other guitarist & calling yourself FM. Sorry, doesn't work.
