This backband set up looks like something y’all should try in all your boats. I prefer ratchets, but the way y’all have the backband running up through the cockpit rim looks like it would actually provide back support right from the factory. The way y’all run the standard set up down through the hole in the seat it’s just about useless without modification. Pyranha makes the best performing boats. But outfitting could definitely be improved.

We trialled them extensively before using them in this design, and within the context of the Rip-R Evo, they make sense for a number of reasons - we're not yet convinced they're suitable for wider applications, but we're always trialling different systems and aspects of outfitting, and as soon as we find ones that make sense within the context without unacceptable compromises on safety, weight, or cost, we implement them :) We don't see speed of adjustment as something which outweighs safety, weight, or cost, as it's generally something that only needs to be done once (obviously with the exception of backrest adjustment).

@@PyranhaKayaksI think most would prefer the ratchets. I would as well. I just liked how y’all had it routed in that set up. With the standard backband I just wish Pyranha could route the part that actually goes up to the ratchets differently. With them routed through the holes in the seat it actually pulls the backband down as you tighten it. It’s already a low backband, certainly doesn’t need to go lower as you tighten it.

@@codychitwood2383 you can get the backrest a little higher by routing the backrest strap over the hip pad strap, loosening the strap between the bottom of the backrest and the seat back, and tightening the bungees, but we'll sure take on board your feedback still!

@@PyranhaKayaksthe backband set up is a very common complaint here in the states. I’m sure y’all are always reevaluating things when y’all bring new products out. Just hoping y’all would consider an update to that if you find a way. Thanks for the responses.
