In honor of the late great Richard Dawson, here he is in fine form on the 1974 syndicated Masquerade Party.

This is great! I really enjoyed seeing Richard and Charles on Match Game back then, but never got to enjoy this until now. After I saw an old Match Game on Buzzr today where Charles mentioned this show, I googled it and was thrilled to find it here.

⭕ Who would have ever dreamed three actors from 1960s comedy sit- coms, Bill Bixby, from My Favourite Martian; Charles Nelson-Reilly, from The Ghost & Mrs Muir & Richard Dawson, from Hogan's Heroes all in the one show ❗

Here's a clip from the '74 version of the American TV panel show Masquerade Party as a tribute to the host Richard Dawson. RIP Mr Dawson. We miss you already. 😭 😭

Thanks for the upload!! It's nice seeing Richard in a different game show setting where he could really let loose...more so than he could on Match Game and Family Feud. This is my first exposure to Dawson's version of Masquerade Party. It's really obscure.

I enjoyed watching this....thank you!

I remember an episode of Masquerade Party where Bob Crane was one of the disguised guests. I think he was dressed up as a chef. Also, if my memory serves me correctly, in the Odd Couple episode "Laugh Clown, Laugh" (S5 E21), Oscar makes reference to watching Richard Dawson (who guest starred) on Masquerade Party on TV.

I saw a picture of a posted ad for Masquerade Party that said, "Every week, more of America's women fall in love with these men" and in the ad were Bob Barker as I'm guessing a carnival barker(looked more like Monty Hall), Bert Convy as some old lady (don't know the story behind that one, hopefully someone here will let me know), Wayne Rogers of MASH fame as a Colonel Sanders-looking doctor, Dick Butkus as Goldilocks(?), Dick Sargeant as a witch, Jack La Lanne as a couch potato housewife(?), BIll Macy of Maude as some rich-looking guy, Art Linkletter as Buster Brown or Little Boy Blue(?), and Lyle Waggoner as I'm not really sure what, he looked like a renaissance man. Anybody here know more about this? Thanks in advance. Hoping we can find more 1974 episodes besides the Charles Nelson Reilly and Allen Ludden ones.

@Paul Testa, do you remember what the clue to the masquerade was, by chance? Do we know if Bob Crane had anything to do with cooking?
@brianpinkosky87913 жыл бұрын
Like, for the masquerade in this video, "HARPO WAS A ZANY COMEDIAN, AND SO IS OUR MASQUERADER."

@@brianpinkosky8791 No sorry, I don't remember. This would go back nearly 50 years! My memory's not that good... 😇

The multi part interview of Richard shortly before he died is really good! Check it out. This clip was great, I love Charles, and Bill Bixby, Lee Meriwether, and Nipsey Russell, thanks!

I wish the Dick Seargent as a witch episode was available.

So do I. I'd like to see Dick Butkus as Goldilocks. The masquerade clue probably had something to do with Bears.

He did a local game show called "Lucky Pair" for KNXT-TV (now KCBS-TV) in Los Angeles and a few other pilots, but this was the only other national game show that Ricard did besides the "Feud".
@RayJacksonbighmw7 жыл бұрын
Any video clips of "Lucky Pair", do any tapes of lost episodes still exist??? I remember it from 1968-70 (I was 3 years old) when it aired and only remember the name of the show but do remember it was on KNXT (now KCBS) channel 2 in L.A. but always assumed until reading more about it that it was taped in NYC but I know now it was taped in L.A. and hosted by both Richard Dawson and also by Geoff Edwards and produced by Bob Barker. I and many others who are game show fanboys want to see video footage of how "Lucky Pair" played.

I hope the rest of the series is available somewhere and wasn't erased or something.

@Dan Barker. Richard hosted an unsold pilot for a revamped version of the show You Bet Your Life in 1988. Also Bill Bixby never appeared on Match Game
@fromthesidelines12 жыл бұрын
This version was originally syndicated during the 1974-'75 season [produced by Monty Hall- who better to revive a game show involving disguised people?- and his partner, Stefan Hatos]. In New York, in aired on WCBS-TV on Fridays at 7:30pm; in late 1978, when Dawson was hosting the "nighttime" edition of "FAMILY FEUD", locally on WNBC-TV (Channel 4), Channel 2 briefly scheduled repeats of "MASQUERADE PARTY" as his competition!!!.

Is there any chance of finding and showing more episodes of the 1974 nationally syndicated version of"Masquerade Party"?
@fromthesidelines11 жыл бұрын
Channel 9, Adam....Channel 2 was presenting "ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT" and "WHEEL OF FORTUNE" that season.
@tyrese374511 жыл бұрын
No, no, no. Wheel was (and still is) on WABC-TV Channel 7 at that time.

ironic seeing Richard imitate Groucho, seeing as one of those pilots was for a new version of you bet your life.

Did "Family Feud" with Dawson from 1994-95 air on WCBS-2 or WWOR-TV channel 9?
@johnissoevil12 жыл бұрын
I would've lit Richard's Groucho cigar with a MATCH to give a subtle hint.

Is this the only other game show Richard did besides his MEGA Family Feud?

Match Game, not the host but he was a big part. The show went away eventually after he went to FF.

@Joe Ambrose , why not? I see your name in the comments on the Match game shows. I looked this video up after Richard mentioned hosting the show in a match game episode. How long was this show on the air?

I don't know about Bill Bixby, but I could be wrong.
