Ronnie Radke's take gave me shivers within the first four notes and COMPLETELY changed the way I relate to this song of suffering.
This was a high school party song for me... Now it is a "crawling up from the depths to reach out for help before it all ends" anthem. WOW.
Ronnie's voice perfectly strings you along as he soothes you with his falsetto and rips into you with his desperate screams.

You mentioned this song came out while you were in the 'middle' of highschool... this was my Senior year.... but bit of a personal story.. This Reimagined version: Goosebumps...... just.... goosebumps...... And quite a few tears.... 😭 The Origional: The original song, came out at a godsend moment for me. I was dealing with a relapse (for lack of a better term to use) of a medical issue in my late teens that had my lungs randomly collapsing. Was in a really dark place due to the constant collapses + scars from surgeries..... the Original is what kept me from staying down and gave me the strength to claw my way back out of that pit. THIS is how i felt when i heard the original.. THIS is what i was hearing when i heard that original song... its what gave me the courage to not back down and give up. Yes i was 'head-banging' to the original (i even do the same to this version, just at a more sedated pace), but the feelings THIS song give.. are what i was dealing with at that moment... Having a spontaneous lung collapse every 2 weeks (damn near to the hour.. got to the point i was joking with the EMT's and Medical staff "see you in 2 weeks" ) left me in a really dark place... Timestamps are for the official video.. but: 2:24 - 3:10 in the official video = that moment when i was at my lowest during those days, literally teetering on a knife-edge ...... 3:11 - 3:23 = what was going through my mind for a solid 2 hours while i saw on the edge of my bed spinning a knife around between my hands....... simply so tired of seemingly having nothing to look forward to but the next lung collapse, another chest-tube, and a 2nd planned surgery 'if/when' it happened again.. (which it did, both) 3:23 + is what this song, in its original form, did for me. Many people 'rocked out' to Last Resort. It was their 'angry escape' song of sorts from everything from a bad day at school, looing a game, or just angry at life in general. For some of us, it had an entirely different meaning. Ronnie Captures THAT side of the song that those of us who latched onto it as a lifeline felt with this Reimagined version. 💜

@@chrisliepe Didn't have to do that 🥲 "Music" may still technically have words in it, but 'music' itself, can oftentimes be a light that someone desperately needs and be the only thing that they can 'grab' when their searching for something to grab onto when regular words fail to even register with them. Even a 'fast and angry' song as the Original Last resort may resonate differently with someone and give a completely different feel for them in a way that others would not even recognize in it. I believe i remember hearing/reading somewhere that "Music Transends language".. and it really does.

dude i hear you, i didnt have medical problems as yourself, but i was dealing with some heavy depression at the time (junior high bullies + parents going through a nasty divorce and being forced to move away from my dad). i didnt have much to really latch onto besides the original song, Broken - Seether and Amy Lee, and the LP underground, this version was a whirlwind of emotion for me!

It was my Junior year this song came out. It was absolutely my angry escape. Typical teenage kid. Just smart enough to know things weren't just right, not experienced enough to know how to digest or express it. Twenty three years later, I hear the same song I heard a million times for the first time. The way you heard it then. A 40 year old's perspective on an old song sung in a different frequency. It hit hard. I'm glad you just spun the knife and are here to provide your perspective. I'm glad Ronnie helped a lot more of us feel the soul of this song.

Ronnie’s mother left him and his family behind when he was a very very young boys so the lyric “it all started when I lost my mother, no love for myself and no love for another” is so heartfelt

My mother abandoned me as well. She then came back to me after being addicted to drugs... Before relapsing and overdosing... I didn't love her for *who* she was... I *did* love her, however, for *what* she was. I relate to Ronnie here... I cried like a MF at that line.

i really felt that part too my mom abandoned me with my grandmother when i was 13 and before that my step dad took care of me so i lost the only person that was invested in caring for me when they divorced my grandmother was there to set boundaries and what not but no love was there. later people would say why are you so jaded towards yourself and everyone else. i only have myself and sometimes i doubt my self too thats why. how can you love or trust others when you dont know if your have your own back.

Ronnie's version definitely invokes a subconscious emotional response that the majority of listeners can identify with. I've had this on repeat for 2 days now and I still get chills up and down my back at specific points in the song. There has never been a remake/reimagining of ANY song that is more appropriate than this.
@Ericsaidful
@Ericsaidful 6 ай бұрын
For me, it’s letting go of your surroundings and getting lost in the song. It’s so raw because he only recorded it once. It’s as if he were on stage and, I don’t know if you’ve ever performed anything, but there are songs and melodies that give you a flow state of sorts. You lose all sense of your surroundings, what’s going on outside, and you’re just there with the sound flowing through your mind into what you are giving out. It’s almost like passing out or something because when you’re done, you’re just numb to everything. It would seem he does this and accesses painful memories while singing which gives him the extra emotional push.
@ChrisDMarsh78
@ChrisDMarsh78 6 ай бұрын
@@Ericsaidful I couldn't have said it better. You can definitely feel and hear the anguish in his voice near the end. The way he channels his emotions is what brings power to the song.

@@ChrisDMarsh78 what’s weird though, and I know how he was feeling performing it, but you just go into this haze and you become surprised at how good what you’re singing is sounding like. And you can feel the same thing you’re making other people feel so you’re trying to hold it together. I think that’s what comes out toward the end.

Massive shout out to Sean Rooney, a fellow KZbinr, who did the piano and orchestration for this, he was also responsible for The Drug In Me Is You (Reimagined) and I'm Not A Vampire (Revamped). When you talk about him going in and out of different characters after he transitions to his lower register, you have to appreciate exactly how calculated that was too. It’s the only part of the song that he really goes into his lower register and it happens on the lyrics “downward spiral, where do I begin?” to really hammer the feeling of sinking into your absolute lowest and most lost point. It’s brilliant and so soul crushing.

This is why music was invented. To express such raw internal emotions hard to express any other way. Songs can’t just be about finding love and break-ups. We need more songs like this sung like Ronnie does, about important matters people find hard to say, with the passion and meaning that does the subject justice. Emotion in singing makes the voice imperfect, we welcome more whispers, breathlessness and gutteral screams to relate to what’s happening inside. Bravo, this man.

Great reaction. Ronnie said that this was the first take and only meant as a guide track, but it turned out so good, that they decided to keep it. He said, he had been in the studio for 25 minutes max. Could this be bragging/a lie. Sure. But I don't think so. I'm not a vocalist but I imagine that the emotions in his voice were so raw because he wasn't thinking about perfection when recording it. Either way, this might be my favorite cover ever.

Then with coming home, all the singles (carry on still a punch in the stomach) and these reimagined versions you can see the maturation in him, in music and as a human being. What I love about these what I would call professional analysis reactions is that a lot of technical singing terms are used to describe what the singer is doing, and yet I am willing to bet that if you asked Ronnie how he achieved the sounds he did for this song he would probably say something along the lines of "I don't know, I just sang what I felt was right and this is how it came out." and to me, that makes it all the more impressive.

I have seen a lot of reactions to this song not one person has pointed out the reason why the buildings are collapsing. Symbolizes how someone that is depressed feeling the world is falling apart. I love how the end, shows he his rebuilding his life.

I experienced this song live for the first time the night before at their Richmond show and Im a huge papa roach fan but hearing it from Ronnie in this beautifully haunting way immediately brought me to tears in fhat pit. It suddenly sounded like the soundtrack of my best friends life before she took her own life in February. It hurt my heart.

This version is AMAZING! Considering the Papa Roach version is also amazing, it has a different feel when it is slowed down like this. I love the video kind of blending with "Watch The World Burn." In that video everything is burning and, in this video it's the ash of the buildings crumbling down. Yet at the end it reverses the fire in THIS video as to going scorched earth from the other video! I LOVE IT! Ronnie is dope!

@@chrisliepe it would be amazing if you analyse and react to “Falling in reverse- Watch the world burn” or “Vended - Am I the only one” which singer is Corey Taylor’s son 🙏

I was not prepared for this version of the song and I can honestly say I've cried nearly every time I hear it. The original was so full of anger it was easy to move past but Ronnie made it full of sadness and it is haunting. Rarely have I heard a song that can bring up so many emotions in me but Ronnie has done it with this version.

What you said about him and Ren and it's about time, NAIL ON HEAD!!! i thought about it when Ren's song came out and halfway through this one the first time i heard it. They are hopefully helping to take that stigma off it that keeps people suffering in silence. I did for years till i died but came back. I was lucky, i stopped being silent after that but i know people who still won't open up for fear of being labeled, abandoned, made fun of, etc...i think they are helping so much. We need more of them and people need to stop, listen and learn when they hear stuff like this. Yes, it's absolutely beautiful and haunting but i promise if you watch someone listening to this you can see on their face if they need help and are not asking. My happy go lucky 35 year old son who's never heard any FIR is one, he lingered a little long looking at the mail and i could see a change and we had a talk. He doesn't want to hurt himself but has been depressed lately. The power of music, I'm telling you, it's real!!

Can’t leave NF out of the picture with Falling in Reverse and Ren. Everyone of these guys have crushed it recently with regards to mental health and healing. I could also add Matt Flood(lead singer for Caskets) in the mix also. If you haven’t heard of Caskets or Matt Flood don’t worry you will soon. This is not a plug for them though. I’ve been in and around the music industry for around 50 years and I have to hand it to Ronnie & Falling In Reverse. This is one of the most epic performances & productions I have ever. REN’s Hi Ren, Chalk Outlines, SuIcIde, was also equally epic and masterfully captured as was NF- Happy | Hope | Mansion | hell all of them. A huge thank you to all 3 of these incredibly talented men caring enough to make a difference in other’s lives. Ronnie, there was nothing reimagined about this! IMO, it was Re-Mastered! Both the original & this are Masterpieces!

Ronnie’s reimagined songs I would think probably inspires many to learn how to use their voice he is the complete package, the ultimate artist and people say he has an attitude, so what lots of people have attitudes what matters is what he does with the attitude and his talent
