Tag along with us and Kwack Smackers as we hook in to some monster Salmon in Pulaski, New York! We had a blast fishing the Salmon River which was loaded with Salmon this year!

love the tressel pool area. I live just south about 2 hrs and go up as much as possible ! if your a fisherman it needs to be on your bucket list. It is something that you will be in total awe of even if you are just watching other people fish throughput the river it is truly amazing !!! In addition, the hatchery is really unbelievable and the job they do to keep the fishery is fantastic.

That first fish has the fly hooked on the left side, which means it was lined. It did not "bite," nor did it "strike" out of aggression. It was holding in current and the fly was pulled into its mouth by the action of the water. Sadly, the SR is not a fishery, but a linery.

Them Salmon came from Washougal River Hatchery Stock many years ago and Steelhead did as well they the Kings get up 68 lbs here on Washougal the Silvers up around 20 pounds and Steelhead can reach mid. Twentys most are 6 to 9 pounds each.

william davis thanks for the info! King Salmon can definitely get very large! We have also seen Steelhead reach poundages in the twenties as well. Always awesome to see such beautiful trophy fish!

Im actually staying at fox hollow next weekend. Last year was our first trip and we fished primarily the lower fly fishing only section which was cool. Any recommendations closer to fox hollow?

Matthew Wierzchowski the fly fishing zones can be a lot of fun but can be packed as well. If you’re looking for other locations, the Trestle and Black Hole are both good locations to fish! Good luck!

Cool video. An honest look at what most of the river is like. I've spent a lot of time up there and found that you can get salmon to bite under the right circumstances. The fresher they are and the less pressured they are the more likely and when they are fresh to the river it can be unreal.. I mean they smack the crap out of your flies! The longer they spend in the river the more their bodies shut down for spawning although you can still get strikes out of aggression. I spent one day on the DSR this year and had a ton of biters (a common experience... not a one off thing). Probably 3/4 of the fish we hooked bit and the others were accidental fouls because there were so many. It's a great way to fish and well worth the effort. White Dog Trail Company thanks! I’m sure there were times we caught fish that have struck our flies. I honestly believed it to be like you said, out of aggression. We were always told that once they run up the river, they do not feed. Maybe just a common misconception. Either way, they are a blast to catch!

Terry Clark this area is called the trestle. It’s usually a good spot. Also, the Black Hole is another great spot. If the run is still good, most of the river should be decent.

mark e the way we catch fish on the river is right. We follow all the laws governing how to catch salmon using fly rods. We have been doing this for almost 20 years. Maybe you should read the law book, just an idea 💡

big ron practicing catch and release does not make you a fly fisherman. We keep what we are legally allowed to and release the rest. You’re allowed three salmon per day. We enjoy cooking as well as eating salmon, same as every other angler in the water.
