It's 304 stainless steel which is a pretty hard material. On top of that, it looks like a pretty heavy series of cuts.

Not sure, its as old as I am and came from Taiwan but its still heaps better than the 12 year old China machine on the other side of the shop.

I've got a bar of 304 ss at work. I thought about making a usable knife but apparently its a terrible knife steel. Oooooops. I'll make a fancy safe-queen knife instead.
