Hey there, looks like you caught a break on that floor... Fun to watch your progress here. The wrinkled floor tunnel you found, is perfectly normal. Both of my 65's (one coupe, one fastback) have these same wrinkle features, that is how stampings came out... Remember, they had to crank these things out like Doritos! Love the good, used parts, cleaned and reconditioned. Keep the cost down, and get that gratifying rush of bringing those parts back life !!! I cannot what to see the butt welded floor pan segment ... I did 2" lap joints, when I did my 65 coupe full length pans back in the 90's... Keep em coming !!!

@@VanHoutenBuilds I've traveled all over the country (47 of the lower 48) and the southeast US is definitely worse than the northeast/midwest. Just spending a handful of days in Arizona/New Mexico made Ohio that much worse to come back to, so after living in Cali for years I could imagine how much just 65% would suck.

@@spicymsp1383 It's really only bad when you're trying to get paint to cure without a proper paint booth 😂. I'm constantly fighting that since we live less than 2 miles from the beach. The marine layer is a nightmare haha

Nice job on the floor pan seal the floor on the inside with por15 and consider a soundproof under the carpet you wont regret it
@VanHoutenBuilds Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah the next video will be me sealing the floor with seam sealer, then painting the interior with rust encapsulator plus from Eastwood. Didn't feel like going the POR15 route. Considered it though. Going to go with the Kilmat on the floors, and add in the carpet with the 13oz jute on the underside!

The floors are really good compared to most. The pitting in the passenger floor is normal, as the heater corebis there. I would check to see if the cowl area is leaking in that side. The cowl is notorious for rusting out and it is a pretty involved fix
@VanHoutenBuilds Жыл бұрын
Yeah, thanks! I checked the cowl and there is no rust around or in there from what I can see, just some light debris which I am going to try and clean out. Also the heater needs to be replaced. We live in SoCal, so I may just do a heater core delete on the car since there's really no need for it here.

@@morganleblanc730 Yeah I've ordered a few things from NPD, but they seem to charge more than anywhere else! That's great that you have a mustang salvage yard near you! Lucky haha
@morganleblanc730 Жыл бұрын
@@VanHoutenBuilds I have been at this for over 30 years. NPD is a little more expensive however the quality is 1st tier where CJ will actually use 2nd tier quality parts. Also I have experienced several delays with CJ. Kentucky Mustangs is also good however shipping cost is insane on some of the big parts.

Great video. Nice fab work on the floor pan. I like the whitewalls and hubcaps too. Classic look for a stock Mustang. Did you find what is on the tape? Btw what kind of saw did you use to cut out old floor pan?

Thanks! Haven't had a chance to play the tape yet, I need to find a tape player. For the saw I just used an air saw from Harbor Freight. It worked really well, much better than a cutoff wheel.
