Here's a list of Symptoms or CWD-related things 0:26 - 0:30 "Inside an Entity, It Hibernates" CWD like most Prion diseases has an incubation period of a year or more, with Deer, elk, moose, or Reindeer not showing signs of CWD for many years 0:37 - 0:43 "Coincidentally I've been debating if I'm imagining the tremors and the aches" one of the Symptoms for animals infected by CWD is tremors occurring in the head and aching pain. 0:44 - 0:49 "Saliva spilling out my mouth and yet my throat is still in drought" CWD causes infected animals to drool a lot as well as causing an intense and severe thirst for the animal. 1:30 - 1:35 "Kill every inkling of a doubt, cause now my legs are giving out" CWD can cause problems for infected animals causing stumbling and lack of coordination. The legs are giving out from the rotting brain and lack control over the muscles and body. 1:36 - 1:40 "If I'm contagious, then your gonna wanna GET OUT" CWD is contiguous, CWD belongs to a family of diseases called prion diseases or transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) 2:32 - 2:36 "I have lost command of Sublimation" This may be related to CWD, but I'm not sure after it is less about what the disease does and more of what it means for the dear, Sublimation means to pass from a solid state to a gas state without passing through the liquid state, best exampling being dried ice. I can only interpret this as the infected animal going "I've lost control of how I die, I will not die of old age as I wished, but will rot and decay over this long period of time" It's not like it can close its eyes as old age finally catches up to send to whatever higher plane that may exist. But that's my interpretation. 2:51 - 2:58 "Nothing can help me to regain control, Now that the Agony has taken hold" CWD has no cure, once any animal has caught it and they start showing symptoms they are as good as dead. 3:03 - 3:07 "Burn down the danger zone, set it alight" Fire has actually been shown to destroy any Prions that attached themselves to the environment, so controlled burns can slow the spread of CWD. 3:08- 3:11 "I have no concerns for things like fear of fright" infected creatures of CWD have displayed no fear of humans. 3:20 - 3:25 "Every single second I've been wasting away" The Biggest sign of CWD in Animals like Deer, Elk, or Moose is that the animal would have extreme weight loss nicknamed "Wasting" That is all I have noticed and documented, if you think you found a line that is also related to CWD, share the time stamp and why you think the line holds a relation to CWD.

This song seems to me to use CWD as a metaphor for how trauma can completely ravage someone's ability to be comfortable and secure in any sort of relationship. This is major projection, though, so bear with me. It has this fearful-avoidant flavor to me -- the anxious neediness of "please hold me, please stay with me, please, I won't live through the night, I need you," along with the remorse for this neediness and the internalized backlash of "I'm horrible, I'm toxic, please leave me alone, get away from me, burn this bridge, I don't want you to be hurt by me," etc. That back-and-forth can come off as manipulative to people, but when identified, understood, and worked on, it can heal. It comes from insecurity caused by trauma making the alarm bells go off when they shouldn't. I also just love how the song begins with fearfulness and ends in avoidance. I relate to that so hard. I give up on relationships a lot. I give up needing people. I grow numb and I start to think I'm some sort of heartless monster, but it's better than actually hurting people and coming off as manipulative when I share my true emotions and needs, which are more than the average. I leaned harder into avoidance as an adult as a result of leaning hard into icky, codependent, toxic levels of fearfulness and abandonment anxiety as a teenager. This is the backlash. This is the "fixing" of oneself... when really, being avoidant is just as disordered and painful as being anxious about people leaving and hurting you. I'm in a DID system, so "struggling to fit the role" and "sublimation" (basically a type of coping mechanism where you replace unwanted thoughts/feelings/behaviors with other associations to meet others' expectations, which everyone does, but this is to an extreme level) hit hard for me, too. In summary, this song is such a raw take on healing from emotional turmoil while in a relationship. It's such a realistic take on trauma and PTSD feeling like a brain-eating disease that makes you feel out of control, like a monster, and like you're desensitized to hurt and pain, when really, you're oversensitive, insecure, and alert.

Interesting parallels! This really resonated with me personally, though for a different reason. I relate to this song in respect to what it's like being diagnosed with a personality disorder. The lines "malady inside my soul" and "inside an entity it hibernates. It doesn't show itself until it is too late" stand out to me especially. That's how I would describe having this type of mental illness to people who don't know/understand. At least that's my experience.
@LilyCelebiFlipnote Жыл бұрын
@@turquoisemaccheese7358 Honestly, fair. I can see a lot of parallels with things like borderline personality disorder especially (which I only know more about due to its behavioral confusion with DID). I felt this, as someone who’s been through some kind of trauma and had it effect my relationships significantly (i don’t put a name to it, maybe bpd i have no diagnosis ) i see this song in a new powerful way. “Isnt there anything to make me whole?” also strikes me as something because people with trauma tend to have issues with a stable sense of self and feeling hollow inside It also feels just so overwhelming and out of your control like a disease, and you don’t want it to continue spreading from the person who hurt you, and from you to other people you love and from them to people they love too. Its a horrifying experience and i am wishing you comfort and stability.

I never comment on videos before they actually release BUT! Gonna give some context to the title since I love it when people reference the most interesting but horrific things in life. And plus in general some notes!! Chronic Wasting Disease or CWD, is a prion disease that primarily affects the North American cervids (aka the deer family) and is extremely fatal! It is very much a concern within the enviromental community as it can spread animal to animal AND be undetected for months. Most side effects of CWD include; weight loss, decreased social interaction, loss of awareness, and loss of fear of humans. It also has been recorded that CWD can cause animals to salviate, drink, and eat more. But it's really hard to diagnoise it as well BECAUSE a lot of the symptoms also can coridalate to other diseases. And there's no cure. It's basically the closest version of an actual zombie we can get in real life ! Which I really am excited to see how this song relates to the title :]!!! Edit: I did not think I was mostly right but this song is genuijely so sad but i love it as sad as it is. God i hope it comes to spotify soon

The part about it remaining undetected for long periods of time is probably an allegory for the early stages of chronic illness and how patients are unable to tell whether or not their symptoms are real or a product of their minds, as many doctors insinuate
@ZephanyZephZeph Жыл бұрын
@@solusminds Yep, Crutzfelt-Jakob Disease, same thing as CWD but in humans, and occurs when a protein misfolds and that misfolding causes other proteins to misfold in a cascade that eventually destroys the cell walls of nerve cells, causing the brain to slowly resemble a sponge. Incurable. Luckily the species barrier is very high, but this is also the exact same thing as Mad Cow Disease because farmers had fed cows brains of other cows, and the resulting meat of those cows with prion diseases could spread to humans. Do not eat raw meat, the prions and remain inside you for like 50 years before doing anything. If I remember correctly, in Britain it has killed like 200 people because in the 90s they were feeding animals the brains of the same animal. One of the most troubling facts is that it is completely inert and is not cleanable, there is one case where brain surgical tools cleaned and put away after being used on a CJD patient had still the prion on them, and the later patient died due to catching it through the tools which were cleaned to surgical standards. Nowadays they dispose of the tools afterwards.

A song about CWD isn't something I expected that's for sure, but it's really cool (and terrifying) to see.. it's such a damn nightmarish concept, and I feel like it should be used more in art. The idea of being a "zombie" while also having an actual medical explanation behind it is such a good horror concept, it should be explored and researched more! I feel like the best and/or most terrifying thing about the song is the fact that CWD affects only the deer family, and yet the character is a human (with antlers, but still). The idea of a living human being with human emotions suffering through such a nightmare is just awful to think about. Hearing about the experience from an actual human person makes it way more terrifying and makes you actually understand the suffering more deeply. The concept of a "zombie" disease with no cure and a 100% fatality rate experienced by an actual human being, the way they know that they have so little time left, the way they explain their symptoms, the way they care more about not infecting others than actually surviving.. it makes it so much more depressing. This song is genuinely just genius! I love Asterian's voice, its sound makes the song way more depressing and actually serious, Asterian was genuinely the best possible pick for the song. The visuals not being actually creepy and intentionally scary, just footage of deer in the wild, makes it so eerie and disturbing.. We need more songs like these, exploring obscure but terrifying concepts while still being so emotional and having so much personality. wow I really did just write an entire movie review about a song about a deer disease didn't I

I love this song. Don't know if it was the song's intention or meaning but the concept of something like CWD occurring in something fully conscious like a human is absolutely terrifying and really good story material. Like, it can be in the body for ages before showing symptoms and when they do present you would know that the countdown has already started and there is nothing anyone can do. You're on a timer now. And what an awful journey to death it would be. There are things in humans that are like this, such as rabies but for some reason CWD feels a bit different. Maybe it's the whole body horror that's clearly displayed in the moose, titled heads, drooling, stumbling around in circles, the fact that even if they want to run their bodies don't let it. I saw a clip of a moose with CWD, as the human approached to put it out of it's misery it started getting frantic and you could clearly tell it wanted to run but it's body just continued doing increasingly frantic circles. That in particular got to me cause that whole thing implies that their mind is still in there even at that stage. Horrifying. And great fiction material.

I love how, even when the song is about CWD specifically, it can also be relatable for anyone with deteriorating illnesses, fisical or mental, it doesn't matter, this song fits perfectly. The wanting to be hold, don't noticing how bad the situation really is until it's too much, having someone you love that helps you yet you don't want then to mourn your lost, and the last chorus that is the "i give up" phase, when you don't care what happens to you or how people see you anymore, you 'give in to decay' and become a vengeful ghost of your former self So as someone with a contantly deteriorating mental state this song hits really close to home, i picture myself as the singer every time i listen to this, confused and helpless

This song is very cathartic for me, considering the weird way my body is acting. "Coincidentally I've been debating if I'm imagining the tremors and the aches." Just speaks to me on so many levels, it's insane. There's also "Kill every inkling of a doubt, cause now my legs are giving out" is just scarily accurate. God, there's so many lines in this song that just makes me want to scream with how relatable it is. And I don't know why. I know my body is essentially giving up on me. I know that I've become weaker, I've gotten exhausted way too easily. I'm always in some sort of pain, and sleeping is such a tedious procedure I've given up on it as of right now. And on top of that, no one believes me. So, if I need help, I won't get it. But it's nice to have a song such as this, so I could silently scream and cherish whatever life I have left. Thank you for making it.

Same here, been happening for almost two years, gotten particularly bad the last few months. It’s probably exhaustion paired with long Covid or pots, don’t know. Might never know honestly since I keep putting off making an appointment for it, I just don’t have the energy for all those tests. Not unless I actually pass out. Knowing I’m probably fine and that this is probably just how my body is now doesn’t make it any less scary or miserable though.

@Melancholia-oz1ti5 ай бұрын
I've read about this affecting deer populations and how scary it is. Where i live, deer can't be re-released into the wild if it didn't come from that specific area. Also, most of the time, deer farms, zoos, and other places like them will not take in a baby deer that was born in the wild or any deer really. So, the majority of the time, they have to be put down. All of it is to protect the other animals from getting CWD. I might be wrong, i saw on this wildlife show of a fish and game officer investigating this moose that was reported acting strange. When he found it it was running in circles in a field. It was shaking its head. It didn't even react to him being there. It was really said. He reported it and he said he thinks it was CWD. He ended up shooting the moose. Because there wasn't anything they could do, he ended the moose suffering. And hoping he stopped the spread to other animals. I'm pretty sure later they did a control burning in alot of areas there.

the lines about saliva and "drought in my throat" hit hard considering two of the symptoms of rabies are excessive salivation and a dry sensation in your throat, and rabies really makes the sufferer's brain waste away physically along with their mind. it can be interpreted as another "wasting disease". regardless of the angle you look at this in, the lyrical and visual imagery on this song is perfect.

i know this song is (quite obviously) about chronic wasting disease, but GOD i can't help but notice the way the lyrics are written being similar to rabies as well. so i went "fuck it" and decided to Analyze the similarities between the lyrics and Rabies (specifically Rabies lyssavirus, for clarification. the one we all mostly know.) because im normal (adhd) "Inside an entity, it hibernates." - Rabies itself has a long incubation period, in which it travels neuron by neuron (and specifically neurons) to reach the brain. This incubational period, too, can vary- usually between a month and three months, though there's been reports of symptoms beginning after four days minimum or six years. This also depends on the site of infection and how many viruses got into the body. "It doesn't show itself until it is too late." - This one is pretty self-explanatory- once you start showing symptoms, you're Gonna Fucking Die. Rabies is practically fatal, there are very few reported cases of survival. "Coincidentally, I've been debating if I'm imagining the tremors and the aches." - Furious rabies (the type you're most likely familiar with) has a fuck ton of symptoms, however, some reported symptoms have included tremors (www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm4949a3.htm ; see "Wisconsin") and pain in the muscles. Rabies also causes meningoencephalitis (swelling of the brain and meninges), which can sort of lead to the imagining part as well. "Saliva spilling out my mouth, and yet my throat is still in drought." - This was the lyric that specifically connected this song to rabies sort of for me. Rabies, after reaching the brain, travels to the salivary glands and causes drooling and excess salivation. Though, those infected *cannot* drink water or any fluids, and are unable to quench their thirst. It's cool (to me at least). "Can nothing help me to regain control?" - Once you start showing symptoms, there's no cure for rabies, only treatment to help lessen the symptoms. So, basically, ya fucked. "Inside an entity, it stays concealed." - Until it reaches the brain (or you get the vaccine), your immune system *does not* notice the presence of rabies viruses. This is due to how it travels, hopping neuron to neuron. Rabies doesn't kill any cells either, meaning no interferons (proteins that are released when a cell dies due to infection) are sent out to alert the body. "If I'm contagious then you're gonna wanna GET OUT." - Self-explanatory. Rabies actually has one of the smartest (if not terrifying) transmission methods. Remember when I said that rabies causes excess salivation, but inability to drink any fluids? Yeah. Rabies basically makes it so you can't swallow any saliva or water to increase transmission chance. Fucked up, I know. "And I can stomach it, or so I'm told." - Basically the whole "oh you have an immune system you can get through this no problem!" thing, rabies edition. Does that make sense? It does to me. "I would scream and shout if I'm allowed to." - Rabies, in its later stages, causes a multitude of things including agitation, paranoia, and more. There's also multiple videos of people with rabies out there screaming while confined to beds. It's actually heartbreaking to see. Rabies is one of my favorite diseases to learn and talk about, it is... terrifyingly cool to me. I like the connections I can make between this song and rabies, even if it's not about the disease I was talking about here. I highly recommend Kurzgesagt's video on it, and also HannahTheHorrible's if you can stomach footage of rabid animals and people.

Deer and humans are so closely linked on diseases, it feels as if it’s terrifying to think that a deer can go through CWD, and we can go through a horrible disease that feels the same. This isn’t a vent, but more of a small comparison. Please don’t attack me for venting even though the guidelines for this channel says not to vent. I’m not venting.
