What I think makes this more off putting is that she seems to genuinely not understand that what she’s doing is wrong, trying to convince herself that “certainly you aren’t talking about ME?!” And telling herself that she isn’t faking reality, stuck in a cycle of denial. Lines like “what’s a girl to do” imply that she feels like she HAS to do this, and looks distraught and confused when the object of her affection is terrified, after “All I’ve done for you!”. ....Wow. I'm genuinely shaken by this song. I personally loved it, with it's fast pace, the rambling, even a SynthV voice I've never heard of before. It genuinely is now one of my favourite songs, it sent chills up my spine. From what I've been able to find, there's a ton of little things in this video. Putting aside the shaking of the eyes and hands, which are very well done, I've noticed things like the saturation of the video becoming brighter and brighter as the character seems to be getting excited or off-the-rails from their crimes and obsession. The "Someone's not reciprocating" line also struck me, as though the character believes that since they've done all of this for their obsession, there's no way they wouldn't like her back. Including the ramblings, I'm genuinely shook by it all. And during when she sings "Lying" and "Crying", I can hear static in the background as she drags it out, getting louder until it stops alongside her. A few days later I also notice certain words are highlighted with a second line of text behind it in a different font! it's a creative way of emphasising certain words asides from the more common way where the highlighted word is changed colour. The mice and crocodile lines are also really smart, hinting that the character dehumanises or has dehumanised her obsession by using those words and using the line "Crocodiles crying at the loss of their goddess" hints at the saying "Crocodile Tears", which mean an insincere show of grief. These are what I've been able to pick up regarding the song, it is genuinely amazing! Hope things have gotten better for you though, as even if you've managed to get out of a toxic relationship, it can still hurt. Thanks for reading my ramblings, and please take care of yourselves. The entire vibe of this song for me is “uncanny valley” vibes. The character is unsettling in multiple ways. From art to lyrics… The rambling & shifting perspectives of how she views the victim of her obsession- the legitimately disturbing toothy grin and her eyes going all shaky. I'm quite the actor") before killing them, delighting in the fact that the 'crocodiles', referencing the term crocodile tears, meaning fake tears, known as person's friends/loved ones are sad at the death of someone close to them girl blames the person for 'making her love them' girl kidnaps person (pretty sure based on the lines "bash in the door on the count of three, keep your hands where I can see") girl begins torturing/hurting person considering the warning does say homicide, I'm going to assume she killed their friends girl begins to snap when she realizes that this person DOESN'T like her (shocking, I know) girl tries to force them to confess their love but they aren't having it girl either gives up and begins harming herself, fatally wounding herself and lies there realizing the person never loved her as they escape OR person breaks free and attacks girl in self defense, ends up fatally wounding her, and as she dies she has the realization, but not before victim blaming them and saying they should feel bad! oh jeez, this character gives me a chill up my spine, seriously. the emphasis on "love" and love-bombing (not sure, haven't experienced that) is really well done here. it's clear to me that this is an obsessive and manipulative character. the character design is also on point, too! the heart symbolism, pink and red colors, and even the pose! i may be reaching with this, but i feel like the hair, glasses, the clothes, and the vocal choice could possibly be another way of feigning innocence? the style of hair is something that i'd expect to see on a child, and the round design of the glasses convey friendliness. there are so many tiny details in the video, too, like the typography (glitching text and translucent white text behind words with importance), the character's slight movement of their hands, and the eye movements! beautiful

HOLY SMOKES ANOTHER AWESOME SONG BY R.I.P! I missed the premiere but its okay because now I have additional context to the song. Alright so, the song as stated is about the girl (Shocker, who I will be calling Miss Miseryguts) who romanticizes violence and Injury and seems to be hurting herself and making her partner hurt themselves seemingly to prove their love. Which is obviously abusive. The Lyricism is fantastic as per usual and the song left me with chills in the best way possible. I also like the detail of the title being 'Miss' and not 'Ms.' or 'Mrs.' And to the people in the comments equating Miss Miseryguts to having a personality disorder (Specifically BPD) can we not?? If you relate to her you should be seeking help. Having BPD Doesn't make you a horrible person who abuses their loved ones. ok, i thought this song was just abt a girl killing others in the way of her love but looking into it i actually think the murder is a metaphor so here is my full song analysis!! WARNING: Absurdly long & mentions of s*lf-harm, physical abuse, and s*lf-harm as manipulation 0:31 "Look at you go! You who had betrayed me. You know I'm nothing like the MONSTER YOU NAMED ME." For the sake of simplicity and puns, the girl will be named Misery and her lover will be Company. (Heh, get it? Misery loves Company..? :D ok ill leave.) This is Misery talking to (or about) Company after leaving her. "Look at you go!" as a sarcastic and upset tone followed by "You who had betrayed me." The line "You know I'm nothing like the MONSTER YOU NAMED ME." Says a lot about Misery right off the bat. She tries to twist the narrative from the very beginning to the audience and to Company that she did nothing wrong and Company made her out to be a villain! Also the "You know" at the start echos when manipulators and abusers try to play the good guy and say "You know I would never do that". 0:39 "Nothing you say can persuade me! Underneath that thoughtful grin I know that she hates me.. Look in my eyes and confront your actions!" Once again seeking pity. The first parts sounds like Misery talking to someone else about the situation in which the other person tries to console Misery about the split. The next part, "Look in my eyes and confront your actions" sounds like it's back at Company. Misery is making herself well, miserable, telling other people and pointing to Company going, "Look what you've done! This is all your fault I'm like this." To not only manipulate Company but turn others on them. 0:49 "Tell me everything you know. OH, tell me what happened!" Another commenter pointed out that at the start Misery is demanding answers from someone but knowing that her mask almost slipped she changes her wording. Tell me everything you know sounds aggressive and threatening which is her true nature but she switches to tell me what happened to sound innocent and curious. 0:53 "Further below than you can imagine. Twisted words as smooth as silk and hands like satin..." This is Misery talking about herself. She's willing to go extremely low, lower than what someone would expect to keep Company around and in her control. Her description of words is how she manipulates people. Silky smooth words that are twisted and bad intentioned alongside her sweet and soft-hearted look. 1:00 "My dear, my love, my darling, can't we come to a compromise? Calling their relationship a "paradise" and with her, Company won't have to be lonely because Misery is by her side. She swears that she's telling the truth and then the tone changes. It doesn't seem to be working so in order to get Company, Misery will need to do something to the people around her making her desolate she has no choice but to return. 1:15 "PLUNGE IN THE KNIFE, CONSUME THIS BODY! You're not allowed to say you're sorry! What are the reasons for my woes? NOBODY KNOWS!" At first, I thought this was Misery describing killing someone. But, after some thought this actually Misery bringing forth harm to herself. This is her very extreme way of trying to bring Misery back by s*lf-harming. Nobody else knows why but Company knows. Misery doesn't directly say this but by harming and getting attention for it and people to ask why while Misery stares at Company and says, "Well.. I just can't tell you. But someone else probably knows." 1:23 "Taking it in, deliberating. Watching you, I was STARIN' THINKIN'. "No, there's no way. You couldn't be...TALKING ABOUT ME!"" The person talking it all in and deliberating is Company and opening up to someone else about what's going on. This pisses Misery off that 1) She's talking to someone about it and 2) That person is now aware of her true nature. 1:30 "OPEN YOUR EYES AND KEEP IT COMING. All for the sake of feeling something. Nobody likes the way it goes.. REAP WHAT YOU SOW! Hammer away and contemplate it. Listening, I was STARING THINKIN'. "No, there's no way. I couldn't be.. FAKING OUR REALITY!" I'm not sure if this is Misery telling Company to open her eyes and face her pain and feel guilty or this is Misery telling herself to open her eyes and keep self inflicting. The last part is interesting. This could be Misery freaking out that their "reality" their love was fake all along. 1:44 "Hey, did you hear? I am quite the actor! Sucking up, the sacrifice is none the wiser. Scavenging mice will surround her carcass. Crocodiles crying at the loss of their goddess." Misery is boasting at her ability to act and how fake she is. Weird flex but ok. The "sacrifice" is presumably a new partner of Company's or friend. Misery is trying to cozy up to them and gain their trust only to backstab them, probably literally. And in the figurative sense, cut them away from Company. I think when she kills someone that's a metaphor from having turn their back on Company. The croc tears is very clear stating whoever this is the goddess of fake tears. 2:13 "My dear, my love, my darling. Look at what you've done to me! Bash in the door at the count of three. Keep your hands where I can see! I expected more from you. But hey, this is nothing new. You will never understand. But what's a girl to do when you're making her love you?" This is where I think things stop getting metaphorical. Misery genuinely barges into Company's house like a SWAT team would do. "What's a girl to do when you're making her love you?" this is Misery flipping it onto Company being like "well... yk.. its ur fault i love you ..!" 2:28 "PLUNGE IN THE KNIFE, CONSUME THIS BODY! Tie off the vein probably means that Misery has tied up Company but so tight that it could cut off bloodflow. The "she" is most likely Company crying out that she was never talking about Misery and/or their love wasn't real and Company doesn't love her. 2:59 "FAKING, WAITING, HATING, CRAVING, SOMEONE'S NOT RECIPROCATING. Look at what I've done for you! Done for you! ALL FOR YOU." Callback before Misery got extremely violent, the words describing how she felt when Company left her and the lack of love, reciprocation. BABY, STOP CRYING!" Company, out of fear for her own life says that she loves Misery too but Misery knows this is a lie. She grows even angrier and Company cries even more. Misery not telling her to stop crying out of care but out of frustration she can't *stand* the sound of Company whining and crying. 3:38 "AH! HACKING AWAY DESTROY THIS BODY. Making me bleed, YOU SHOULD BE SORRY! YOU ARE THE REASON FOR MY WOES. EVERYONE KNOWS! Feel the decay ITS LIBERATING! Fading away I LIE HERE THINKIN'. "There's no mistake. You were indeed... TALKING ABOUT ME!" In the midst of it all, Misery does one final act and stabs herself. She screams at Company telling her that she should be sorry and that this is all her fault. Stating that everyone knows is Misery saying "When I die, everyone will know it was YOUR fault." As Misery dies she dies convinced that Company was talking about her and will now forever suffer without her. Despite her efforts in trying force Company back to her with s*lf-harm and even straight up attacking Company she still refuses and Misery as a last ditch resorts to death thinking that Company will blame herself. I like to think that at first, Company did. But with time she healed and learned that Misery was well, a miserable bitch and nothing that happened to her. I like to think that Crocodile Goddess & Company got together after the ordeal and Company felt stable enough to date.
