Grieg is a Norwegian composer born in 1843. He studied music in Leipzig, Germany and had the opportunity to come across the works of Wagner and Strauss in person.
Upon graduating from the Leipzig Conservatory, Grieg moved his base of operations to Copenhagen. Norwegian character is highlighted in his Grieg work. His masterpieces include Peer Gynt and Piano Concerto.
Of Grieg's three violin sonatas, the third, completed in 1887, was the most popular and he himself liked. This violin sonata No. 3 is a song composed of three movements, with ethnic elements felt in the melody and rhythm pattern, but the harmony is written in the style of the traditional Romantic era.
