As a 55 year old, I get a lot of compliments on my skin...my “foundation”? A drop of NYX serum concealer and a drop of Supergoop tinted sunscreen on each cheek...buff in with my brush..nice and natural and glowy.

It would work amazing with the True Match nude hyaluranic foundation. That is light coverage but looks so amazing on the skin. And then any concealer you like. My favourite drugstore concealer is makeup Revolution conceal & define. Creamy and full coverage without being thick and cakey. Hourglass also makes a great one specifically for retouching later in the day.

Not all concealers and foundations will mix well. They may look good when 1st applied, but at some point they may separate, giving you cake face, or emphasize skin texture. I tried this hack one time and when I got home and looked in the mirror, I was mortified how my skin looked.

Wow I tried this today! I’m 49 and have oily skin and I like full coverage. This technique was a game changer. I Added alittle concealer which made my makeup appear more skin like and added coverage without being cakey. It's ironic that I mix the Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator with the NYX Bare With Me concealer. I started doing this because the lightest shade of the Wet n Wild product is still too dark for me. But now I love the coverage, and the fact that I don't use any other concealer!

More hyaluranic and moisturizer! Evening and morning! That’s what made all the difference for me. Also spritz a hydrating spray before the hyaluraic or slightly wet your face so it has extra moisture to hold in. Are you using retinA, glycolic etc? If so it could be that you need to use it less often. Sometimes the chemical exfoliators really dehydrate our face

Hi, have you tried the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrading Longwear Foundation? It’s not full coverage, which is what I like, but it does not settle into my fine lines and it does not settled where I get wrinkly with the movement of my face. I turn 54 this year and found the Fenty one, and was so pleased and am on my 5th bottle/tube, I have been using it since it launched. I use both the Hydrating and the Matte, I am in color 150; which for the first time in my life, matches me perfectly…..I will never be without this. But, as for concealer, nothing “doesn’t” settle…..lets hope someone has a thought. Hopefully you can get a sample to try…..I am light skinned with neutral undertones ( I am both pink with yellow/olive tones) and I have rosacea and oily/dehydrated skin with dryness near my nose and middle chin. Good luck to you, as I know it is super frustrating.

The MAC face and body foundation works well on my 62 year old skin. Also, it applies best with fingers working one area at a time. Its light to medium coverage but looks so natural on my skin. I will try the mixing with concealer to see the effect.

My foundation hack at 69: Layer one is Kryolan TV Paint Stick in 1W (I'm fair). Put on with a brush. Layer two is Bare Minerals matte powder foundation in medium beige 12. Put on with a brush. Wow. Complete and total coverage.

You look fantastic! You quite literally look my age versus old enough to be my mum. Any other pointers? Mine for the 50 and under crowd is: 1) Sunscreen from birth 2) Start moisturizing after bathing/washing but definitely as puberty kicks in, if not before 3) Wash face every day with gentle cleanser, followed by moisturizing and using sunscreen, paying special attention to face, neck, decolletage, hands, ears and lips (cancer for last two, often neglected) 4) Hydrate 5) Live life in moderation but no smoking and alcohol is easily avoided. One can make an argument for very light drinking. I have never cared for it. 6) Avoid diet fads and extremes. Aim for your optimal health without obsessing. Yo yo dieting, crash diets, malnutrition, etc. can show its effects on your skin long after you stop. Move your body. Stretch every day, do light weights, walk/swim/chair yoga/move your body. And, of course, remember that you ARE beautiful. Good mental health, confidence. CONFIDENCE! Confidence and a smile.

I tried this with my Clinique Even Better liquid foundation and concealer today, and it worked great. It did give me more coverage but still with a natural look. I also added setting spray to mix together. My makeup lasted for the whole day. I didn't even need to touch up. Love this foundation hack!

I’ve been adding foundation or concealer all depending on season, and reason to my lotions, potions and sunscreens for 30+ years, (currently 49ish lol), long before BB creams were ever a thing. The best thing I did for my 63 year old face is go back to Bare Minerals Original Powder foundation and buff it in and building coverage slowly. I have tried tons of foundations but BM gives the best natural look without cakey, powdery or emphasizing lines.

I've been doing this for years! It gives me the coverage I need in my "trouble areas" while also giving me a very natural flawless finish on the rest of my face. I use a light to medium foundation such as loreal true match with a fuller coverage concealer. I've even done this with a lighter concealer such as NYX bare with me concealer. Works beautifully ever time! Sometimes I use powder and other times I don't. Just depends on what my skin needs are that day. I already usually mix two foundations. I have 2 Sephora Best Skin Ever, one is 22.N, the other 27P and mixed, they just match me very well. I also mix Haus 250 (which is supposed to be neutral, but is a little yellow on me). I mix it with Catrice True Skin 030. I happen to think it looks good and helps me match. (I didn't save the receipt for the Haus foundation at Sephora and couldn't exchange for a better match). I will try this. I have so many foundations and concealers!!! This will help me use them up! Hi Risa! ❤I want to thank you do much for your content and talents! Your tutorials has literally changed my. Life!! ❤ I only just begun taking my skin care seriously as I do in January of this year. I had written off the chance of ever being able to put a cream or a liquid around my eyes ever again because it always aged me. So recently using the color corrector and a concealer and oh my goodness what a difference a! However, I do have one problem, the little corners of your eyes that sit on either side of the bridge of your nose are such a problem! No matter what technique I use or what product I use that skin is nearly impossible to cover nothing wants to stick to it. I have tried applying at setting spray first, I always use an eyelid primer, I've tried using setting spray in between layers of color corrector and concealer and no matter if I dab, tap, or lightly brush the area the product will not stick to that skin.Would You consider doing it to tutorial that addresses this? I know I can't be the only 50 year old woman out there struggling with this! Thank you

Been doing this for 30 years although I dot both on the face and just use finger tips to blend. Adrian on HSN was demonstrating this live on her shows back in the 1990s. You can also dot on color corrector where you need it and work foundation over that directly on face. It will blend beautifully. Need more color correcter? Dot a little more where needed and blend a little more. Unfortunately, Adrian doesn't do the makeup demos that she used to do. I learned so much from those demos she used to do.

I’ve done this for yrs I find Concealer looks better as Foundation on my skin I’ve never used a fully matte Concealer on my under eyes as my skin leans dry , I’m 47 but have done this for yrs my absolute favourite combo is the NYX Born to Glow Foundation with the OG Two Face Multi Sculpting Concealer . I take one thin swipe on each cheek and just a small dot on my forehead and it’s a squeeze bottle for the NYX so I take a small pea sized amount for a solid medium coverage and a medium pea size for a full coverage, I get compliments on my skin and asked what I’m wearing and tbh I use the Two Faced MSC as Foundation all the time in the Summer as it does does set but it’s not matte it’s a Natural/Satin finish and I only use the smallest amount of powder and it’s a glowy powder . There are lots of options now for these types of powders NXY has two one is very glowy and the other has a light glow they are called High Glass Finishing Powder this one is being discontinued but can still be found on Amazon the other is called No Filter Finishing Powder and it’s the Baked vrs of the No Filter line of Powders L’Oréal has one that’s called Infallible Pro Glow , Wet N Wild Reserve Your Cabanna is called a Bronzer but that’s laughable nobody not even the fairest of fair could use it as aBronzer but it makes a very beautiful glowy finishing Powder . Of course there’s the very popular Hour Glass Powders but they cost an absolutely ridiculous amount of money for Powder Laura Mercier has one called Candle Glow Sheer Perfection Powder it’s much cheaper than HG but still expensive as they are both high end Brands, I personally own every powder I just listed and tbph the Drugstore Brands stand up just as good as the High End Brands i personally use my Drugstore Brands everyday and even on special occasions I still find myself reaching for my Drugstore ones . If anyone has any other Powders along this line that are not only available at Sephora ( I’m Canadian we do not have Ulta Beauty 😢) plz let me know, but yeah the Concealer trick as Foundation is not new to me oh I forgot the Sephora Brand itself also has a beautiful glowy Powder and it is actually affordable it’s 20 bucks, considering here in Canada you can’t find many Brands that are any cheaper than 25 bucks for Drugstore Foundation and Concealers 20 bucks for a product at Sephora is considered cheap and affordable. Even Elf here in Canada has I think only two products left that are under 10 dollars and that’s the Bite Size palettes NYX wants 55 dollars for eyeshadow Milani, Physicians Formula, L’Oréal,all are very expensive for being Drugstore Brands.

I’m on this big search to replace my concealer that was big on coverage but discontinued. I’m going to try Mac but after that I’m ready to give up. This has been a long search and Bobbi Brown made a new thinner formula that wouldn’t dry up but now won’t cover the same way. I say it was their container. When they gave out samples of the former they never dried up. I hope Mac works. Discouraging. I’ve had dark skin under my eyes all of my life. My first grade teacher asked my parents if I got enough sleep. Tired of looking tired-especially now as I’ve gotten “older.” Never surrender to that idea. ☺️

Omg! I was watching your video this morning and I happen to have a bottle of the Mac face and body that I don’t use often because it’s a little too sheer. I mixed it with It Cosmetics Bye-Bye Undereye concealer which I felt was a little too heavy and creamy for the under eye. I got the most beautiful coverage and it lasted all day. It looked flawless! I used to be super into Mac makeup before the KZbin beauty channel days. Around that time there was a major shift in the Beauty community and all sorts of new stuff started popping up at Sephora, Ulta, and even the drugstore. I swore off Mac makeup for many years. I thought they were too expensive (when I could now go purchase a great foundation from the drug store and ACTUALLY find my shade, for a third of the price) I realized that their blushes, which I used to think was their best product, weren’t anything special compared to all of the other stuff I was trying at that time. But now that the “dust has settled” with the You Tube beauty community, I have slowly been transitioning back into using a few of Macs products. The studio fix powder has always been a favorite of mine! So has the Stripdown lipliner.. I still have yet to find a shade and quality that stands up to it. And I miss using the Gigabkack mascara, specially for my bottom lashes. Mac definitely has some old school favorites

I used my essence concealer and mixed it with my foundation. It sat on the skin very well and did not settle in my fine and not so fine lines, I am 71 years old. This is awesome, BTW, I have been using the tiktok under eye concealer with setting spray technique that you demonstrated and I am shocked in hot humid Florida especially in August, stays put and no creasing!!!!

ha! i’ve been doing this with my kosas revealer concealer and glossier skin tint for months and it’s GORGEOUS. guess i was on to something. i’ve just been mixing it straight on my skin and blending, i use my fingers as well

I wonder if that’s just those two products mixed or if that works with any other concealer/foundation. For my mature skin i love using only concealer as a foundation. Because you need less product, so less settling into all this lines and wrinkles and pores. A very light weighted but heavy coverage is the Huda Faux Filter Concealer, it looks really good, everything covered but still looking natural. You or your may try using concealer only. By the way… would love to see your mom more often

I mix 2shades of foundation every day and I just put it on the back of my hand. The when I use rare beauty liquid blush I put it on the back of my hand, swirl my brush in the blush. Gives an even application.

I mix maybelline's dream satin foundation in 1 shade darker then a any of my tinted serum or lighter coverage foundations. It adds the perfect amount of extra coverage without looking cakey.

I would love some ideas on powder for us more ‘mature’ girls. In the past ive not worn it as it settled in my lines, now im even older im really stuck. I dont like a Matt finish so need some radiance ( when it appears lol) showing through. Hope im making sense. I dont wear MAC due to the animal testing however im getting pretty good results so far with Revolution, its a good price to get used to wearing make up in a less is more way. I think ive thrown more expensive stuff away than ive used 🤷‍♀️

I only recently started watching you, but ive learned so much & upped my makeup game. I never wore it much before because i felt like i looked clownish lol. Now that i am able to make it more natural looking, i feel more confident in my 49 year old skin. I dont like a full coverage look, & ive been using clinique foundation. A few decades ago when I did some modeling, a makeup artist taught me a trick. Get foundation a few shades darker than your skin and another a few shades lighter. Put a bit of each in your palm - in winter time add a drop or smear more of the light and the opposite if you've tanned during the summer. Add a drop of white liquid foundation, a drop of red gel blush, and 1 drop of water. - if you use heavier foundation, maybe add an extra drop. Mix them all together. I've used this since the early 80s when I've had a function, gala, etc. to attend and it has never failed me. Doesn't matter if you use expensive, cheap, or moderately priced products, the result is still flawless.
