To anyone here struggling with depression... We all can do this ... We have our highs and lows regardless of your background or past... No matter your family or living situation. We are all here for a reason and won't be able to find out what that reason is unless we make it through to the next day... Nobody is better then anyone else or has it better or worse... We all go through shit so together lets wipe our shoes off in the dead grass and fookin march to the beat of our own drum... Don't let anyone break you down or Rip apart your dreams... You got this!!! This is your life!!! And every breath is worth the while... Thank you!

Not sold out? Kidding me?? They've been sold out since the sufferer and the witness: - First of all, if they were not sold out they would not give up singles on itunes. - Don't tell me that their new music is the way they changed , evolved. That's just an excuse a band shoot out when they're actually sold out, to get non-punks fans listenning to pop music ( The offspring too and Green day too). Where is the punk style? -They're not on their own, as they're with some major labels. -They're fucking rich ( Coming from the fact that they're always headling a festival , or almost) .Where is the punk life? You know punk is not only about lyrics, but also the way you live... oh and by the way NHL 14, Watch Dogs ,etc... all videogames from big corporations. - Also the fact that in these festivals, they sell their Merch for an high price ( 30$ at the Rockfest for example) .By the way the way they sell their merch ruins the local bands. -They're one of the biggest bands in the USA/Canada , yea... coming from the fact that they're playing on radio, and they're doing shows in Arena... Of course RA is sold out, and is ok if you like their new music ( i don't personnaly), but don't tell me that they're punk or not sold out.... sorry for my bad english, i'm french ahha

People who say stupid shit like that usually aren't very well traveled. Have you been outside of the United States much? There's a reason why everyone else in the world would rather live here than wherever they were born. No place is perfect, but America is by far the best place to be. It's better to be poor and American than to be financially successful somewhere else. It's the best country ever built in human history, by far.
@vitortomazi64714 жыл бұрын
@@CoolhandLukeSkywalkr Saying that America is the best country in the world is a bit too much, especially because it is a very subjective subject. But anything else you say is indeed correct. When asked about the negative message of this song Tim replied with this "I never thought about the negative perception of the song until someone told me about it later. And I didn’t want it to be like that; I wanted it to be this escapist thing, that moment when you realize, “I’m not down with this environment that I’m in, this relationship I’m in, this world I’m in or this headspace I’m in, and I want to get out and escape.” And it was that moment of finally being fed up and saying, “Fuck this. I want out.” And to me it’s a really positive thing, especially if the thing you want out of is dangerous or damaging or negative. The song is about that moment. It’s not even about the answer; it’s about that moment of clarity, where you go, “I’m over this. Let’s move on from here.” So it didn’t really mean it as a negative thing, but I see how it could be construed that way"

I was deputy sheriff for 7 years. This song perfectly could describe those years. As a rookie I was excited. As time progressed, the things you see begin to affect you. You can't forget the sights. The smells. The faces. The photographs. The details. I got fired from that job, because I didn't charge a known shitbag for a crime he didn't commit. By the time I got fired though, the job was no longer enjoyable. It became agonizing work. And when it starts to weigh you down, they tell you to be more proactive in your patrol. So you get proactive, then they say you make too many traffic stops. Nobody asks if you need help. You just gotta deal. I didn't want to be there anymore and it almost cost me everything. I'm better now though.

RokeyGames This song is definitely a step in the harder direction, but it sounds nothing like RPM. RPM was much much more raw and punk like(with screams, screeching guitars, and Tim's more rusty voice). RPM also didn't have any of the pop punk elements which this song has, like the "woahs" or "heys." Don't get me wrong I still love this song, but it sounds more like a mix between Endgame and The Sufferer and the Witness.

I'm a die hard fan from the beginning. I remember seeing them headline a show at my favorite concert venue not to long after The Sufferer & the Witness album was released. That was the best live show I have witnessed thus far in my life. When they played "Survive" something clicked in my head, "this is the song that will define you for the rest of your life." The next day I made an appointment for my next tattoo, and two weeks later I was officially a die hard fan with "How We Survive Is What Makes Us Who We Are" in black ink stretching from my waist to the top of my ribs. I have been waiting for Rise Against to hit a venue some where close to me for several years now. The current tour Rise Against is on with Lincoln Park happens to be making a stop in my area. I have no doubt that this show will rank as high as the first time I saw them. The show would be truly epic if the set list included Survive, Help is On the Way, and my newest found favorite I Don't Want To Be Here Anymore.

On pins and needles we are waiting for the fall We count the days scratching lines on the wall Wait in the wings at someone's beck and call No longer recognize the place that I call home No longer recognize this face as my own Somewhere this fate, I lost control We backed down, we took no for answers far too long We felt those walls close around I don't want to be here anymore I don't want to be here anymore I don't want to be here anymore I know there's nothing left worth staying for Your paradise is something I've endured, whoa whoa See I don't think I can fight this anymore, I'm listening with one foot out the door And something has to die to be reborn and I don't want to be here anymore On hand and foot we answered every single call Weathered every day like passing storms But when we break we will all be gone Won't back down, won't take no for answers anymore These walls close, we pace back and forth I don't want to be here anymore I know there's nothing left worth staying for Your paradise is something I've endured, whoa whoa See I don't think I can fight this anymore, I'm listening with one foot out the door But something has to die to be reborn I don't want to be here anymore The point where we break is closer everyday But where do we go? This song isn't necessarily about suicide it's all about how you see and hear the lyrics, I see it as I'm not happy with who I've become or the situation I'm currently in, " I don't want to be here anymore..." It could be a catalyst for change and an opportunity for change and improvement... It's all about how you see things... For those of you who feel like your situation will dictate the rest of your life.. Please don't give up cuz you can make things better, use this song as inspiration not confirmation...

I think that's what's great about it, it can be applied to so many things, living in poverty, living with an abuser, being depressed for me it feels more like the period after I was depressed, after I'd worked through most of my shit I found myself more or less alone, I didn't have anyone to share that joy with, I'd just begun living a life that others had been living for five years, it feels like being in the same place with a different mindset, but it's getting better, because I'm making it so, because I don't want to be here anymore

Without getting into too many details. In an accident at work, where I cut my arm and severed an artery. I lost about three liters of blood. Almost died. It has taken me a long time to try to recover. Not there yet. PTSD ect. I'm constantly thinking about death. My death other people's deaths. I just look around. I am amazed by people's cruelty. Hatred for no reason. Lack of empathy for others. The stupidity behind this hatred fueled by simple things like what side of the political isle you stand on is insane. I agree with this settlement. Sometimes, I just don't want to be here anymore.

As for me, I love everything Rise Against has made, from The Unraveling to Endgame. Each album has a unique flavor that I like to listen to individually for individual moods. Sometimes I'm in the mood for the extreme angsty punk of 'Six Ways 'Til Sunday' and sometimes I'm in in the mood for the melodic sound of 'Audience of One'. All in all, I welcome yet another new flavor of Rise Against!

I'm proud to say Rise Against made me Straight Edge, thanks to Tim. Keep up the excellent work, I love every single album, I'm a huge fan of the lyrics in the more Controversial songs, and most people think it's weird that I listen to the lyrics and only then do I pay attention to the music. Either way, this band is fucking awesome.

lolumad77711 Yeah people just wanna be critical. Like people, bands change. Concepts build. Ideas sprout. Problem arises. These bands are just addressing what is in their hearts in a way they feel that is best approachable for their audience. They spend quite a deal thinking of their lyrics and songs. When I first heard this song I knew it was Rise Against no questions asked. Was it that much different from other Rise Against songs not really. To me I still think it is great.

It's annoying how people criticize(d) this one song and/or compare it to Rise Against's other albums. I really don't see one thing wrong with this song; along with specific musical things that make up this song, the message or meaning of it is just as strong as the many other songs they've made, all of which, to me, are both astonishing and plain awesome. If this album is not what you expected or "wanted", you're not being much of a grateful fan; don't be so picky and ignorant to not realize that Rise Against made the music how they see fit, despite the style changing in minor or moderate ways. Hands down, they created great songs for this album with a style they were or are still comfortable with, clearly, as they've done with their past albums; I commend them for that and I'm proud to be a fan of them. Overall, don't be so ungrateful; be glad they still create great music. :D

A lyrical masterpiece with which I totally agree. Government and corporations are bleeding us dry and most people are either oblivious or just watch as it happens, unwilling to do the hard work to change it. "Your paradise is something I've endured," Great freakin lyric. Says it all for me.

To all the people fighting depression that are in this comment section, you keep going. Cool song, it seems like this time a round some of the songs (this song and restless world) are more introspective (writing songs about personal concepts and experiences) rather than political. Which is cool, it's something that Rise Against have done a lot in their very first album, the unraveling. All of their other albums contained mostly political and social commentaries, so an introspective approach to the lyrics is a nice addition. I am very interested to see how the rest of the album is.
@ProfessorRJLupin10 жыл бұрын
Well, The Used were introspective and became political with their most recent album, it kinda makes sense for Rise Against to do the opposite.
@GuitarOwnsDrums10 жыл бұрын
The cool thing is that this song can be interpretyed politically as well. You could argue that it's about refusing to put up with the political situation in the USA/the world. On the other hand, it does seem very introspective.

@RazorXXTreme10 жыл бұрын
NomTheFood A lot of their songs are like that. IE: Audience of One is supposed to be political according to the music video, yet on lyrics alone, it gives a completely different message. I prefer to follow the lyrical message (losing friends and growing up) over the political message.
