Tristin...."Nail is in"...had to look that one up. With your capabilities of nearly exquisite diction, I wonder how it could be more understandably performed. I think part of the problem is the fact that you are at full tilt there (sounds like fun) and that the words have to be run together. The other one I commented on like this was the Home Free tenor with "inches away", which kind of comes out "in Chesaway". Someone else commented back that they thought THEY were the only one wondering where Chesaway was. When my wife an I tried to figure out how to sing that line so it was more understandable, we found it nearly impossible. I guess some phrases just shouldn't show up in music, huh, at least at the wrong times, dynamics/phrasing/etc. wise? Feel free to comment back, I'm interested in your take. BTW, I just threw this into the hat at a "best five covers" of rise video. I think yours beats ALL of them, but I guess that might be because I actually appreciate people with talent...Chris, by far the best arrangement here of all of them. Having the lead/backups doing the call and response thing really works here. When a loan singer tries to do this on this song, they just sound rushed/overworked to me, if you get my drift. And maybe it's just me, but I don't like the original take on this, at all.
