About Dr. Boom's scheme... I got electra stormsurge off of a weaponized pinata, then I played it with Dr Boom's scheme. +30 Armor. Sadly, I tested it, and the same effect cannot be achieved using Archmage Vargoth.

I think that spellward jeweller could be much better if it wasn't a battlecry, but an effect like "your hero can't be tergetted by spells and hero powers untill this minion dies". It could even be a 2/2 for 3 mana but it would be more valuable to play in control decks

I'm surprised that Sweeping Strikes didnt see play since warrior mechs have rush, and magnetic effects can make a small minion into a sudden 3 minion destroyer for even more board control. Also, if you pause a video just before/after you want, the "," and "." keys will move the video one frame at a time in their respective directions.

pikmints I think the problem is partially just that the is very hard to make room for it. You already can't fit in everything you really want and have to choose between different techs, and sweeping strikes just isn't good enough to replace other cards. I do think it's an interesting card though that seems to have potential for the reasons you alluded to

I dont think it's fair to call arch villain rafaam a bad card. The reason it has such a low played winrate is because aggro warlock uses it as a panic button. They don't play arch villain rafaam very often unless they have nothing else to do, and are already in a bad situation. Arch villain Rafaam increases the zoolock's chances of winning in this situation from 0% to around 25%, which is very powerful. It saves you from losing if you draw it 25% of the time, which is incredibly powerful.

IT'S the best first expansion in Hearthstone. Usually the first expansion has a predefined theme like old gods and ungoro that works only with 2 or 3 classes and its definelely better then witchwood.

Regis, can you try to build a Wild Control Hunter? I feel like the tools are here to make it possible to change Hunter's HP into a ticking clock. The spell generation and ammount of removal that Hunter got in 2 last expansions is purely awesome and I've been rocking Spell Damage Cobra Shot Control Hunter, it feels so bad yet so good

Hagatha scheme is 5 star, shaman is one of the few classes with board clears, which are still scarce. There’s not enough single target removal in the meta to stop a token Druid or a mech hunter to continually remove and slow tempo. And although I’m a fan, it’s at least a 4 star. Not a 3 1/2 to 4. Just 4 to 5

Rafaam is one of those interesting cards that are really debatable as of power. On the one hand, upping your weak hand into legendaries and having a playable card drawn every turn is great. On the other hand, the card makes you give up your game plan which you know and gives you randomness. If you get multiple Zilliaxes, you’re in a good spot, getting Aviana or similar cards are not that great. Cards like those are the most interesting though

Pretty spot on for the most part, though I'd disagree with you rating Acornbearer and Ursatron 4 stars since I think they're both probably one of the best cards in their decks, which have both almost always been tier 1 since the expansion was released.

I think 4 stars is an accurate rating. Neither of those cards are essential to their decks, rather they are just extremely good options. You don’t run token druid because of acorn bearer, you run it because of the great board buffs druid has. 5 stars should be reserved for true build around cards that warp their decks around them like Reno Jackson or Zul’ Jin

5:37 “We need to do reviews at the end of every meta” That’s what I told you last meta! I was pointing out that a lot of archetypes were rotating out and you had a chance to do a deep dive (like freeze shaman. Obviously that went nowhere but WHY) or reviewing the quests because they had a full meta to be tweaked (disco lock vs smol hunter and what was better or missing or what). And then engaging in a gameplay session to really hit it home, maybe do a charity drive for the top five meta decks to play and discuss that way fans can do some good, see some KZbin videos, and watch decks in action

My 1 arguement is you still rank Nomi as a 3 star card but it created 2 deck types that seem to do well, maybe not a Top teir deck but it is a deck defining card as you said when talking about lazuls scheme i think its a 5 star by your definition and a 3-4 based on gameplay

Horn ofFrog It seems like a pretty strong possibility weaker or situational lackeys will dilute the pool. Also currently 3 out of 5 lackeys have pretty strong token/zoo synergies which makes it pretty consistently good for token decks. It just seems fairly likely Cable Rat goes down in play rate.

I genuinely don’t remember people saying plot twist was a five star card. I do remember people getting crazy about Loruna, but it goes back to the joust mechanics and Chameleos - information about what’s in your opponents hand is surprisingly useless, and with all the synergy cards that people play in meta decks to achieve a game plan, cards from their hand are useless a lot of the time - how many priests want to discover a random shield slam. Speaking of priest, the entire silence archetype pushed this term was DOA despite some hype. Another flop this expansion was vareesa, which some people felt would keep spell hunter going, but in fact people have forgotten vareesa was printed. On the other hand, I laughed in the face of the forest’s aid, thought it was unbelievably bad. I may have been slightly wrong, Kappa.

I jut made a handlock deck that has rafaam and it’s performing very well. It runs tech cards like a copy of EMP operative and spellbreaker. I haven’t seen anyone else play it but I think the deck has promise.

I think you're completely wrong on your analysis of Plot Twist as replacing an average hand with an average hand. You're more likely to play your good cards -- that's why they're good -- so the stuff you aren't playing, which sits in your hand, will on average be *worse* than your average card. So Plot Twist on average *improves* your hand.

The thing is: A. Before the buff, Luna's was unusable B. Jepetto is neutral, so he can be used for more different combos C. Jepetto actually draws you the cards, so he's faster and D. Jepetto has a body attached.

Arguably you got the best cards of rise of shadows (by winrate statistics and relevance of inclusion) wrong mr. killbin. It is far worse to get good cards wrong than to get bad cards right.. Not your best regis. Thankyou for being transparent though.

Just started watching but two observations so far. 1 and I know this is hard not to do bc of how much we all naturally value reputation but you come off a bit too defensive of your reviews and so you might be missing the reasons why you missed some of these. The reasons seem to be getting a little bit buried under the need to justify not being "wrong". Being wrong, of course, isn't important or doesn't matter as much as a reviewer, as thinking about why we are wrong so we can correct our thinking in the future. Justifying tends to do the opposite of this. 2. I think being off by 1 star in a 5 star system IS in fact significant and should be thought of as a missed review. It means you are off by 20% of the total value of a card which is a very significant amount and even by your definitions 3 star and 4 star cards are very different. One you define as barely passable and the other a quite good. So rating a 4 star card as a 3 star is actually missing the mark by quite a bit. You say being off by 1 star isn't being wrong in the beginning of the video and that strikes as incorrect to me and again might be a product more of the fear of being wrong than of a more objective perspective. I know this is hard stuff to hear and specially to talk about publicly, as being wrong or feeling as if we are wrong hurts inside, but again all that matters is that you find where you can get stronger as a thinker and reviewer and I hope you are not missing those lessons via minimizing the misreads of these cards and how they would function in decks. I am a fan btw, just thought I should say as it can only help I think. And again thank you for putting yourself out there and going over past reviews like that, very courageous thing to do!

I appreciate your thoughts, took a long time to write this. If I may make a suggestion, I think maybe you're expecting a certain natural inclination for a reviewer, and assigning that to me. I constantly echo your exact sentiments regarding the pride of reviews, and regularly mock my own ratings (many times in this video included). Regarding accuracy, you may not be a member of my Discord, but I recently shared some thoughts after running an analysis on this set, where I remarked that "The standard deviation was .95, so I think I'm happy with that. I guess that's kinda unfair though because three ratings have two adjacent ratings, so there's a 60% chance of being in that range for any 2, 3, or 4-star card." So in essence, yeah I think you're right! If you want my 100% frank opinion, I think it's a super subjective thing, and none of it really matters at all, and the community puts far too much weight in the scoring system. I didn't do stars in the past because I thought they were pointless, I just talked through how the card might work and a made a general nod to its likely potential. But the community & content demanded it to remain relevant, and it's fun for people to go back and make fun of you (including this videos), so here we are!

​@@RegisKillbin Certainly you could be totally right there, I could be inserting my own expectations and misreading things. After watching the rest of the video I certainly saw you go through a lot of good self analysis of where the reviews had come from and why you thought they might have slanted a certain way etc. On a side point I like the plus minus and half rating system btw. Coming from Europe where we used that in school as well as a 10 "star" instead of 5 star system I really like it. I always find that 5 stars just doesn't have enough nuance. There 4 star plus would be 4.25, then you have 4 and a half and 5- represents 4.75. Anyway it is very true that it is, of course, all subjective and that the point is to have fun talking and thinking about it. Also true, once you put a number on it, it all seems to become very serious for both the rater and the audience all of a sudden for no real reason. Odd how numbers can do that to people. Again, I just thought I saw something at the beginning of the video and at certain points here or there but its very possible it was my own expectation bias acting up. In general I think you are far better then most at being able to not take yourself too seriously and thereby staying less biased towards your own thinking. Keep up the awesome work dude. Always enjoy listening to your thoughts! .

​@@RegisKillbin i was gonna say Unleash the Beast. i checked and its in ~12% of all decks since release, even as high at 19% at one point. I know blizzard's MO is to release a lot of "build around" legendaries like Zul'Jin to compel players to open more packs after getting one, but this rating scheme just seems like it exists to validate them.

@@BIayne we have data to show what cards are good and what cards are not good, played and not played it's easy to tell how good a card is objectively. His rating system is basically just a measure of how much he likes the card + did it see play. Take out the how much he likes the card bit and I would enjoy the video a lot more

@@dylanb2990 the point is to hear his logic for why he rated the cards how he did, and how that logic was proved correct or why the logic failed - such as the description of forest aid being good because other classes didn't have enough board clears to finish off token druid's wide boards. The interesting part of a re-review for me is reviewing and examining how someone reviews cards. Examining Why they were right or wrong on each card and how they plan to improve in the future. Rather then just measuring if something is correct look at, why it's correct

Dylan B I disagree, he didn't touch on why he chose the rating he did on many of the cards. He mostly went over what the cards are currently and just stopping as soon as he decides if he was wrong or right. Without going over why he made his original rating and what he got wrong. As for the opinion part, there definitely will be opinions in almost any video in this format, my critique is that this video contains too much opinion/fluff and is very focused on did we get it correct? Rather then the much more interesting (imo) why did we get it correct/incorrect? Such as what assumptions were made that gave the card a rating that was too low, vs what does the data say actually happened? Opinions are not inherently bad I just dont find much worth in the options presented in the majority of this video because they can't help me form more accurate ratings of cards in the future
