Remember this! In any movie, there is always a Hero and there is always a Villain. Its up to us to decide our course. To help show everyone why the Villain is better, here is my example. Imagine a world where there is a Hero and a Villain. It's expected that they both exist to play their part in society. Now imagine a world without the Hero. We would see a mad person with the world in their grasp. By no hero, this means no one to stop them. Sounds pretty good, right? Now imagine a world without a Villain. What would be the Hero's purpose? Nothing, in fact, there would be no reason to exist if your job was, lets say, a cop or a superhero. Sure the world would be at peace, but there would be no "yin and yang" nothing for people to look up to, no guidance for the young, to live without a challenge or competition. Its always important to consider what our possibilities are and what can be accomplished. The idea of making a purpose and setting those morals develop that character that we decide. By saying this, being a Villain brings purpose because without it, who are we?

tbh, antagonists are great. I myself write lots of stories, and it's a lot more fun coming up with depressing and traumatizing back stories. I even do it for my heroes XD like, my main characters parents were murdered right in front of her by the main antagonist. I think I need therapy c:

I love giving my characters fucked up backgrounds. It just makes the story way more interesting if the character, good or evil, has an interesting background, a sort of push that put them on the path that they’ve chosen

If you have ever watched Bakugan, then I'd say Spectra is a perfect example. His dress, his voice, accent, bakugan and attack moves, they are comparably scary for me. Yes, he was on the dark side in the beginning, but then he fought against evil powers, helping the good guys prevail.
