@@nickadt Playing brilliantly and then losing at the very end in a sudden loss of control...how was that not a choke? In my opinion, Smug beat himself, maybe slightly shaken by the perfect the prior round. If you actually watched how that ended, you'd see how Smug made 4 mistakes in a row at the very end, one of which was not even understandable with the jump back jab. It isn't always a put down to say someone choked. They were both playing quite well and Jiewa had a huge amount of momentum at the very end.

The jump back short (because that wasn't jab) is an instant overhead and he did it for a few reasons. 1) he didn't want to have to deal with the setup after VT DP 2) He thought it was gonna kill because its an instant overhead and Akuma is a glass cannon with low health. 3) He thought he would recover in enough time but Akuma's normals are broken. Pay close attention to the standing forward that Akuma threw out. The frame data on that thing is busted. Had Smug just stood there and not did jump back short, he would've risked being thrown. And in a game where the general consensus is take the throw Smug was down on health so he couldn't take the throw. He made the right decision.
