"If it aint broke, don't fix it" -I'm addressing those who are complaining about The Hollow, Challenger, and Unconditional having similar sounds. If they change sounds people will complain. If they stay the same, people will complain. It's a lose-lose situation for every band. Appreciate the music for what it is, thanks. d
@jeremymichaelnt10 жыл бұрын
That saying only applies to the actual physical or technological problems of objects or ideas, not qualitative aspects of the nonphysical or musical enjoyment. I hate when people use that line out of context. If you went to school and your professor taught the same lecture everyday, only altering minor phrasing and words each class but keeping the general key talking points the exact same, wouldn't that be a tad boring? Would you want to learn new material and take the risk of maybe not liking it, rather than covering the same topics every class? How long would that class hold your interest before you dropped it, even if it was a field you truly enjoyed?? THAT is what true musicians realize, and why bands that understand this are extremely successful, even if they lose a few core fans along the way. Long story short this band needs to do something different fast, before every gets sick of their music after a month or two of their release and their short lived hype dies down. Hope that helps see why bands should ALWAYS change and improve their sound with every release rather than play it safe.

This song helped me through the toughest time of my life. I was around 16 years old and was going through horrible alcoholic parental abuse for about 4 years prior and then until I was 18 years old and moved out 10 days after my birthday. I am now an adult and realizing that I related to this song so well because I have c-PTSD. To me, this song really describes what anxiety and c-PTSD feels like for me, especially in those moments as the abuse was going on. Thank you for being there for me in my darkest moments, MMF. It's because there is such thing as a "good" change. SWS and OM&M made bad, very bad changes to their sound and fans hated it. Bands like Issues and Dance Gavin Dance consistently make good changes to their sound, and the fans love it for the most part. Of course everyone cannot be satisfied, but overall fans want their favorite bands to top their other albums. Not make an exact copy of what gave them success in the past, i.e. MMF, or change their sound and sell out, i.e. SWS OM&M. Change can and should be good, but MMF is just using the same exact formula that has sold their last two records.

Okay i want to end this whole, "Why don't they sound the same" and "why can't they sound like they did on the 'Sleepwalking' record." First of all, they can't play anything from sleepwalking live because their old label, (I think still called trustkill records) has all copyright from it; it's the reason they hate them so much. About the sound? Tons of members came and left this band. The old front man is the reason they sounded great on sleepwalking. It was his idea that the album should progress that way. Matty was just used to track the vocals, no contribution what so ever besides his voice. So gaining a sound that other members made that are no longer in the band is basically impossible. The Hollow, has spirit from their guitarist Kellen, who is basically the last original member and founder of the band and wrote tons of the material. Challenger, was Matty's time to shine. Rise Records saw that and took advantage. Rise doesn't want one of their top selling bands to lose their fan base, so that's why i think this sounds a lot like Challenger. After all, the album was a huge success. I love this band and I've followed them for years, and i'm still picking up the record like i did the rest. But as a fan, who's seen them rise up, you catch things others who just came in don't. I personally think they're selling out but that isn't a bad thing. They're living their dream and i would do the same.

Totally agree with you dude. As far as Kellin goes, he is seriously one of the most underrated musicians in the scene. He has pretty much written EVERYTHING from day one, He's the brains behind the band and in my opinion, his style of writing is 100% unique. It annoys the hell out of me when people who have no idea about writing music, try to say this band is copying what so many others have done. If you've ever tried to learn an MMF song on Guitars or Drums or whatever, you'd discover that they're not the easiest to get your head around at first. Everything from the riffs to the chord progressions are pretty unorthadox compared to what most bands do.

Bizzare Editing He's just expressing his feelings of how he likes seeing bands evolve and change over time. People naturally don't like change though since it causes a hint of anxiety if they're pushed with something they're not used to, but more experienced listeners like to see that evolution and growth in bands. It shows a sense of maturity. We'll have to wait and see for the full album to come out to fully judge that aspect of the band though. I personally don't mind having structural similarities as long as it's different enough to not get the two albums mixed up for the more so "new comers". As long as it relatively impacts me emotionally like the previous album, I'll be satisfied. :) Hope this makes sense! It's just all comes down to personal preference, but as long as YOU like the album who cares, right?

MMF are the best. Really diggin the new cinematic approaches with the synths that come in at 2:40. You guys continue to prove to me why you are my favorite band to be apart of, go see, and the most played tracks on my ipod. Love you guys. Preordered your cd the second ordinary love dropped on itunes, cant wait to see you guys march 14th. Coming out to represent all the way from chicago!

How does this sound anything like the old stuff? Did you even listen to the MMF EP with Chase, or the Album Sleepwalking?

Blake Alden Considering he said albums I don't think he means the EPs, just a guess.
