I have been hooked on this band like a crackhead ever since I randomly came across "Lemon Meringue Tie" right after Downtown Battle Mountain was released.. Gotta get my daily fix lol... If I were told that I could only choose one band/artist to listen to for the rest of my life I would be perfectly content with nothing other than Dance Gavin Dance. In my eyes, they exemplify the definition of musical pioneers... Thank the Lord above for bringing these guys together in Sacramento for I don't know what on Earth I'd do without them. okay it's a long list and there's more than what I'm gonna say this is just from memory let's start with the ep. in "The Robot with Human Hair" Jon says "polymorphic hemophilia is fine" which may be a reference to the disease in the Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Not 100% sure since the game and the album were released in the same year. On to DBM. in "The Backwards Pumpkin Song" Mess says "Bar fight, I invented chivalry Notch in my bed post Slow motion action replay" an action replay was a thing you put on your gameboy and u could duplicate items in pokemon and walk through walls and do other stuff in different video games, I just remember using it for pokemon. Also, the "Surprise! I'm From Cuba, Everyone has One Brain" is all in reference to the Zelda series I can't remember anything specific from Deathstar and Mess didn't appear on Happiness but in DBMII on "Spooks" Mess says "The sound of master blaster's tank weapon gun addon I believe" I'm not 100% which game he's referencing here but it sounds like he's referencing a game addon. Also, in "Priviously Poncheezied" he says "You've got that ostrich beak that's lowering your skill in sneak" and sneak is a skill in Elder Scrolls maybe that one's a stretch but knowing Mess I wouldn't be surprised. Also in Acceptance Speech "Jesus H. Macy" Jon says "Set it up, cover the plans, record everyone, make demands Positional strategy, split was disastrous, flanking the siege" which is definitely about StarCraft 2 even Jon Mess confirmed this on a Q&A on reddit. Also, on the Secret Band Full Length there's a song called Giygas which a monster in "Mother" and "Earthbound" this is all from memory there's probably and definitely more references I missed
