After Myne seduces then betrays Motoyasu, Ren and Itsuki in turn before fleeing to Faubrey and ally with Takt, and each of them unlock their own cursed series weapons with various consequences, Itsuki will stay stuck in a insuperable depression he'll never get out, and Rishia will support him forever (you can even say he becomes mostly useless without her to boss him around in order to efficiently comply with Naofumi's commands). Anyway, the important point is Itsuki makes himself at least useful that way. Ren is the only one able to snap out of it, reflect on himself and become a reliable companion. As for Motoyasu... Well, you could say he becomes reliable as well in a sense, but is definitely insane... :p After having been comforted by Filo, he's now obsessionally in love with her (now frightening her and making her trying to avoid him at all cost), sticking to Naofumi and calling him "father-in law", only tolerating his harem of female Filorials around him, and hallucinating every other female as having a pig face (that's even how everybody suddenly realizes Kiel has always been a girl). :p LMAO

Manga reader here. She loses her "dependence" on Itsuki fairly early on (She loses her respect for him as well though I'd rather not go in detail) after becoming a slave to Naofumi. She even has some really badass moments later on.

Great to hear back from you again from a very long hiatus dude. As always, producing some very fine thought provoking awareness, that is in comparison to the anime. Also trying to make us as the viewer think about, what could be possible in a realistic society, and make that comparison towards the anime itself. AS far as Rishia is concerned, due to her background, its very tough to break out of, because of circumstances beyond one's control. Its either fed to you on a silver platter, or its taken away from you without warning. It always falls upon the situation that is being presented before you, with very little option to be given. Most times often than not, it can get much worse, before it can get better. Other times, you will not be able to get out of it at all, unless you have some help along the way. In her case, take the baby steps needed, in order to build that confidence, and once ready, take flight from there. Otherwise, its great to hear back from you again, and hopefully continue to speak the truth about our favorite anime series, mangas, and characters, that our favorite authors,, and writers, are dishing out, and making that comparison to real life events. Spoiler: In the original source material (WN), she will end up with the Bow Hero, emphasize on end up because after the event of the Rising of the Shield hero in the epilogue, the Bow Hero and Rishia would go in a journey together and there feelings with each other bloom during the Pride Arc. The sword hero will marry two. Naofumi will have children with everyone on his harem. And the Spear Hero would end up with his birds.

I think the anime did a decent job of telling Risha's story up until the Ishekai arc. I found the first 6 episodes allowed the audience to see her grow. Her relationships with comrades strengthen her confidence to the point that at the end of episode 6 she decides to support the shield hero without hesitation even though Naofumi suggests she stay back and help Itseki. In the end her fight with Kyo felt like bang for the buck. Hope we see more of this later in the final part of season 2.

I pretty much agree with you on your statement. I also like to think Rishia is a prime example of a Late Bloomer. One detail that was left out of the Anime was Itsuki gave her a Class Upgrade that didn’t contribute to her magic affinity. That was why she was so clumsy when joining Naofumi’s party cause she had trouble adapting to that and Itsuki didn’t see her untapped potential. She does keep getting better in the Light Novels. For you Anime Only fans? I will say she will become amazing when the Vassal Weapons of that world come into play.

After reading light novels, I'd say the main theme of Spirit Tortoise arc is sacrifice, and what it means if you fail to make those sacrifices. I think that could be an interesting video topic as the season 2 continuous.

So here are some precisions to the (greatly modified from the original material) 2nd season's 2nd episode : As Ost Hourai tried to explain, the 4 Spirit Beast are some kind of last stand solutions. In case of the 4 Cardinal Heroes (and the 7 Vassal heroes, but their importance is minor) failure, a seal is broken and a Spirit Beast is awakened. Its role is to collect souls in exchange of stopping the Waves. If I remember well, it's something like 1/4th of the world population. Yes, I'm talking about slaughtering a quarter of the world's population. However, Kyo managed to break the seal to control the Spirit Tortoise and exterminate ALL of the world population to completely destroy the world. He's a Vanguard of the Waves, meaning, like Myne, he's obsessed with power while destroying the world he's living in at the same time, which is contradictory, but he's compelled into doing it anyway. I guess that's why Vanguards of the Waves are obviously all chosen as demented psychopaths, else the evidence would have stricken them long ago. Of course this isn't his own world, but he's preparing to do the exact same thing in his own world anyway, so it's all just as stupid. And when they finally resolve the crisis, Takt Faubrey will do even worse in Raphtalia's world... There's no end to this madness !

Got to admit, I really feel for the poor girl as she just wants to earn the respect of someone she loves and to be useful about him. But I truly look forward and have hopes she can grow from this broken moment if her’s and become truly strong and independent, to follow her heart and take crap from no one like Naofumi is. He’ll be a good role model for her, I believe.

I don't think she craves for earning respect. Her friends are more into pushing her into doing it then herself. :p She's just being sincere, and that's enough for her. Her feelings are just genuine, and she'll never waver. It's a form of strength on its own... Anyway, I've spoiled enough about her future relationship in these comments, so I won't repeat myself, just read around if you really want to know (else just be very patient, because it'll be for the 3rd season).

Rishia's story is really glossed over in the anime. Not to mention the anime leaves out a lot of great interactions between Naofumi and the other heroes. Manga is giving us way more details on how they act and how selfish they are. Not to mention the Queen didn't just ask them for help, and they bluntly refused. In the manga, Mirellia gave them some conditions that if fullfilled, they'll be allowed to leave her county and be free to do whatever they wish. Cause at this point, they really disliked the fact that they where told what to do. Like being forced to train and get stronger, cause they had a different mind set of how strength should be acquired. Not to mention their ego wouldn't allow someone else that is beneath there LEVEL , to actually give them instructions. The shord hero in particular, had a really heated confrontation with Eclair, and sadly this was left out in the anime. It seems like there rushing through the material , probably to cut down the budget, but this really hurts the story and it needs to stop. But I guess it's a bit too late now. The first 2 episodes already omitted so many things.

Spoiler: In the curse series, only the Pride curse series is comparable to Naofumi's Wrath Curse series that it need the help of the assistance of the other heroes to defeat him. And the drawback of his curse is the worst one as it strip him his will, so he become a puppet momentarily to anyone after using his curse series.

Correction, the noble did not kidnap her. She was given to the noble as compensation for a monetary loan to her family. Pretty much the noble took her as a bride and paid the family a bride price (granted this was not a thing she nor her family wanted but they had little choice in the matter if the family was to continue providing for their people) (I just read those chapters yesterday so it's still fresh in my mind)

Light Novel spoiler: Although Rishia is back with Itsuki, she picked up from Raphtalia, who always sees Naofumi for what he really is, with all his virtues and flaws, but always squeezing the very best out of him, the best that made her fell in love with him.

Honestly, she sees in Itsuki what she wants to see (i.e. justice, equity, caring for others), but unlike Naofumi, he's really not who he was impersonating. He's obviously a narcissistic pervert thorugh and through, and of course, his cursed series theme is, just as obviously, "Pride". Anyway, he's barely a moving lump of meat rather than an individual by the time she dedicates herself to nursing him, so it doesn't matter anymore. As I said above, he's now barely the living symbol of what she wants him to be. If anything, the only moments he seems to regain a bit of life is when he plays music, now... :p As for Ass-Chin and Co, of course they all became enemies of not only mankind, but of all forms of life from all the worlds, from the moment they betrayed Itsuki and sided with Myne and Takt. I really can't remember if they get caught and executed or if they manage to escape to some other world with Myne, but the moment they're caught, they're just as good as dead meat anyway.

In my opinion Itsuki is the worst of the heros. Motoyasu: is a gullible idiot who thinks with his second head most of the time, but he isn't malicious in any real way. Ren: has his flaws but he is the most heroic and willing to learn out of the heros, aside from Naofumi just look at how he died. Naofumi: is just Naofumi he is an was but we sympathise him, and he is the most effective hero. Itsuki: is just a narcissist, who uses justice as a justification to do what he wants, never considering the consequences of his actions, all just to stoke his ego.

@Michael Amakye He is Naofumi's slave but not part of his harem. He will gain many slaves in the future and one of the top contender is the White Tiger girl Atla which is Raphtalia's rival. Fun fact: The original Webnovel supposed to end in a downer ending, the heros lost and everyone in that world ended. Naofumi because of the power of the shield manage to return back to Earth with Rapthalia upon their untimely death. But, the fans were against such an ending so he change it.

More like the rising of the mid hero They literally stopped following the light novel/manga after b*ch punishment (read it) and naofumi is just a onedimensional morally white hero with not much room for development that completetly brushed away everything in season 1.
