Sorry but hitchhiking for a solo girl in India is not recommended. It's not safe. I'm also from India that's y I'm saying this. Just like any other countries there are good and bad side of my country as well. U will meet a lot of nice person but please avoid trusting strangers, hitchhiking and dress modestly. Some foreigners do this mistake of bathing in river ganga or in some waterfall wearing bikini or bathing suit. This is not ok in India. U won't see any Indian girl or women bathing in open wearing that. When in rome do as romans. Our country is still conservative for the most part. I remember few years back a french woman went for a swim in river Ganges all naked. Later she was arrested by the police. And that's not the worse part coz a lot worse cud have happened to her. Police just arrested her but didn't put her in jail or anything. She was released immediately. It was more like a warning that she cud not do that in India. So just keep these things in mind. But please don't think only negative about India like what western media shows all the time.

There is so many names of mother Ganga but ganges is not one of them. In our literature or scriptures the name is mantioned as Ganga only. Jai ho maa ganga ki..
