Tracksuit is elastic and the gown is not that simple to wear in a hurry.

There’s a difference between a tracksuit and a gown. Tracksuits are pretty easy to wear, but gowns are not, they’re different from Indian dresses and when you’re panicking or nervous it’s easy to make a mistake and rip a seam (speaking from experience)

I don't think it's really about her age and the show is I think set in this time, but I think the creators are making the other characters critize the fact that she's 30 something and Ratan is barely 21. It's more likely in Asian cultures for the men to be older instead of the women. And I think they also like live in a small village or city and Ratan is Data Hukam, and the question is just like why would someone like him marry someone her age..?
