This lady, I assume, kept looking for places that looked old or bad. She kept fabricating statistics. Wichita has no mass shootings. Little violent crime. Homeless occupy only a couple of blocks. She makes assumptions about construction and architecture. She kept talking about violent crime. This draws in crime, that draws in crime. "I don't know what those lights are, they'll draw in violent crime." Wichita is wonderful, better than her city by an order of magnitude.

I live in Wichita, and this video is a joke. Violent crime, in reality, is slightly above average for a city of this size, but it's nowhere near being the warzone she's attempting to make it out to be. And yes, we do have a problem with homelessness like any other larger city, but steps are being taken by the city government to alleviate that. There are plenty of desirable neighborhoods to make a home with little to no crime issues. Even in most of the so-called "bad" parts of town, it's not likely you'll be a victim of a violent crime unless you're involved in illegal activities. She's also bashing Old Town, which, although it has had a few recent violent crime occurrences, is one of the trendiest areas in the city, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. Contrary to the video's claims, our metro area is experiencing steady population growth, not a decline. This is a testament to the city's appeal and potential for the future. Additionally, most of the boarded-up buildings she pointed out on S. Broadway are being renovated into apartments, further contributing to our city's growth and development.

I have lived in Wichita 44 yrs. This video narration is beyond inaccurate. Yes Wichita, like all cities have bad areas. Even our bad areas i would have zero problem being in. The downtown homeless problem is because we had a mayor that didn't take care of it. This yr we elected a mayor who ran on a platform of taking care of this. Also the "fenced off" areas around some of those buildings is because they are being remodeled. Our downtown is going through a ton of remodeling of those old buildings. There is literally 1 area that has that homeless encampment which is right by a Lords Dinner which gives them food. I could write a entire essay on how wildly misrepresentating this video. Also our low income is because Wichita is a cheaper area to live. Income needs to be bounced off cost of living. The cost of living is 17% lower than the national average

Before my comment, I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to come see a very small part of Wichita. I've lived in Wichita for 40 years. Unfortunately, this video is a bit deceiving of life here in Wichita. While the stats you read off may or may not be accurate, like all cities that have a decent amount of people, there is crime. It appears you only saw a part of downtown and a few streets just outside of the downtown area. The downtown here is older, and a lot of it is unused as many businesses have moved to the outer areas of town. Most of the homeless population is downtown. However, the downtown area, including Old Town, is used during the daytime for farmers markets and other events, which draw many people from all around. On the same note, downtown at night, especially on the weekends, can be unsafe as there are a lot of bars down there that attract very large crowds. The nicer areas of town are on the east and west sides of town. Like a lot of cities, you have to go away from downtown to see and experience the nicer areas. I would argue that the east side is the nicest part of the city, but if you ever make it back, please take the time to drive around the city, especially on the east and west sides. The further you drive in those directions, the nicer it gets. Kellogg takes you from east to west down the middle of the city. 235 goes around the west side. K96 will take you around a large portion of the east side. 135 takes you straight through the middle from north to south. 😉🙂

I can not believe you said, "Wichita has a mass shooting once a year." Totally false. I do agree that all States in America have high crimes, high poverty, a homeless problem and drugs since 2020. The reason for this is the installed resident. Your statistics are completely wrong. I actually laughed at your exaggerations. Every person should see if this blogger went to your town, and verify her stats. Her "doom and gloom" tours! 😂
@JKML11028 күн бұрын
I moved to Wichita in 2020 and it’s one of the best cities I have ever lived in! I’ve lived in many cities across the country and Wichita has been good to us. Most of what she drives past are HISTORIC buildings that are being renovated or have plans for renovations. The brick streets she talks about that someone took the time to lay out “to make it look better” have been here for over a century. The streets used to all be brick and *gasp* some streets are still dirt! Instead of looking up the media-funded “crime statistics” she should maybe look up the history of the city, the values of it’s people. Yes, there is a homeless population here, just like every other city in our country in 2024. That has more to say about our country as a whole and maybe she should look to help people instead of talking about this town and it’s citizens (homeless or otherwise) like it’s the worst place she’s ever been. Please take your GoPro and opinions to Beverley Hills, and keep them there. Now, off to watch her Albuquerque video…🤪

I drove down Broadway at about 1am , let's just say I won't be doing that again. Always felt fairly safe in Wichita but the amount of drugs, prostitution & the homeless population's exploding has really changed things a lot in the past 20 years & drastically in the last 4 due to do many folks losing everything during the pandemic. She managed to drive by some of the homeless. Most of the shelters are downtown & the Lords Diner feeds a lot of homeless. She did alright for not knowing the city. Mostly guess work that's wrong. Looks can be deceiving too. Some of those of building house upscale restaurants & businesses just have to know which ones.

If you disagree with any of the stats please feel free to check with the FBI - Thats where I got the data

@@risingcrimenews That’s not how stats work Karen it’s a college course for a reason otherwise you do silly things like compare Wichita Kansas to bmore. That’s also why you didn’t find what you came looking for and embarrassed yourself.
@risingcrimenewsАй бұрын
@@DarksideAdjacent-mc2wt stats are based on population (per capita) so yes you can compare baltimore to wichita. Thanks for sharing your opinions on this video

@@risingcrimenews and even in that you’re being inaccurate which is fine I don’t think anyone is coming here for accurate reporting this channel is clearly for a specific purpose hence all the hyperbole. You implied the city was founded and vacated all around 2020. You are not a serious person 😂

For your information btk came from Pittsburgh Kansas and you can not blame the whole city for what 1 individual did so I'm sorry if you feel that way

If I were you I would read the rest of the comments. There are many locals that disagree with The narrative of this video.

You're so right, its super sad that these midwest cities are collapsing and so are the American people! I'm sad about it. I remember 2 decades ago, the midwest and the Pacific North West were amazing! Heck, living in Florida was paradise, we had like virtually no problems throughout my life in Florida. Our nation is on a down turn.

I love how defensive the people from Kansas are in the comments! There are KZbin videos showing the worst of New York City or California all the time for clicks that taking advantage of people's resentment of those very influential places and they get no comments from locals because they know how important they are. Kansas people are outraged because they have a massive chip on their shoulders because they are irrelevant.
@crunchycannoli20124 күн бұрын
People are defensive because they actually care about where they live. Sorry that you view people as irrelevant.

Thanks! Interesting, Wichita didn’t get all that graffiti until the Latinos came to the city.

😑 Wichita is not bad. It has areas that aren’t so great (downtown has a larger amount of homeless due to programs to help located there) but please don’t judge on a small area. The suburbs are growing and Wichita is still growing. They have programs to try to address the homeless populations and are trying to keep improving. I loved living in Wichita.

She started her tour on the Broadway. It was like she knew where the homeless and crime is at . Old town didn’t get a fair shake she should’ve went later in the evening The crime is a little high here, but it is the biggest city in KS Old town can’t be shown except weekends in the daytime and later in the evening it’s bars and restaurants. She was there too early. There’s no tourism, but the cost-of-living is among the cheapest in the nation. with most people that are doing well, working in aircraft hospitals, or own small business . The last minute video did not give Wichita Justice..
