Kersantti Paavo Suoranta sai myös ristin toimessaan päämajan kaukopartion johtajana. Kun marski oli kysynyt hänen ansioistaan niin Paavo vastasi : " Kannoin reppua ".

Narration: Decoration presentation of the Mannerheim Crosses in Mikkeli in September 1942. 14 knights present. (Those who earned Mannerheim Cross are called Mannerheim-ristinritari. Eng. Knight of a Mannerheim Cross) Lieutenant Colonel Eino Polón, Battalion Commander. Cadet, Lieutenant Paavo Koli, Pioneer Platoon Commander. Warrant Officer Class 2 Leo Kojo, assistant platoon leader. Sergeant Kaarlo Laitinen, assisstant platoon leader. Lieutenant Lauri Kokko, Company Commander. Second Lieutenant Paavo Nuotio, platoon leader. Second Lieutenant Kullervo Sippola, platoon leader. Sergeant Arvo Mörö, Long-range reconnaissance patrol leader. Sergeant Paavo Suoranta, Long-range reconnaissance patrol leader. Major Auvo Maunula, reconnaissance & fighter squadron Commander. Cadet, Captain Yrjö Keinonen, Company Commander. Captain Jorma Karhunen, fighter flight Commander. Lieutenant Tor Lindblad, Company Commander. Second Lieutenant Toivo Korte, Jaegar Platoon leader. Mannerheim was very interested in the decorations Korte had already received in the Winter War. Korte had participated in the war as a reserve soldier because his other eye was blind. Infinitely brave, resourceful, and quick-witted, he excelled in battle, rising to sergeant. 2:51 Second Lieutenant Kullervo Sippola did not have previous decorations in his uniform, because he was in a great hurry from the front line directly to Mikkeli. (Finnish Supreme Command HQ is in Mikkeli) Joining the congratulations: Chief of General Staff, General Erik Heinrichs & Chief of Command Staff, Lieutenant General Viljo Tuompo.

Well done! Still I need to nitpick a little: Distribution > Decoration presentation Pioneer Team > Pioneer Platoon Warrant Officer > Warrant Officer Class 2 or Sergeant First Class Deputy Team Leader > Assistant Platoon Leader/Commander or Platoon Sergeant Team Leader > Platoon Leader/Commander Captain Jorma Karhunen, Fighter Squadron Commander > Fighter Flight Commander Finnish Army HQ > Finnish Supreme Command HQ (there was no separate Army HQ)

Right now, I'm greatly interested in the military career of Mannerheim.
@timoterava71083 жыл бұрын
@@jounisuninen Actually the Mannerheim Cross is not the highest Finnish military award in general, although for an ordinary soldier it certainly was. It's anyway regarded as the most prestigious one. This award is exceptional, because it could have been awarded to any soldier regardless of his rank - unlike the other awards. It was also accompanied with a substantial amount of money.
