Now that you guys have tried out Rivals 2, I have to ask: do grabs and ledges make it feel really different from Rivals 1?

Overall still a very similar game especially character movesets but having to balance around all the new mechanics required them to change certain things like make the game a bit slower overall (adding end lag to wavedashes, remove drift DI) but it's a very solid start to the game's life and has a lot of people wanting more

It was a babydash jab, babydashing was a thing in Rivals 1 where you dash forward for a Frame then reset back to neutral

Not yet, around Q4 of this year so maybe around November, but there will be another beta weekend this coming weekend (May 17-19), you can still get into it (and get the game when it releases) if you donate $50 here aether-studios.pledgemanager.com/projects/rivals-2/participate/

How does the movement feel compared to 1?

Wavedashing is still easy but unfortunately has a bit of end lag so not able to be spammed as much, ledge dashing is very smooth since you can just jump from ledge and just airdodge during the beginning animation, even though the game is still a bit slower overall (for balance) it's still pretty good and off to a decent start

rivals 2 voice work is so bad. I imagine that the voice actors are not bad. just that the direction they were given is dog shit

Not 100% sure how much is still in development but it's possible that could be improved in the future or some might be reworked but at least you can always just turn down the voice volume
