I was disappointed there was no intel mac version, I was really looking forward to this. I won’t be buying a new computer for a few more years.

Others are saying Riven runs terribly unless you're using an M Ultra variant with a massive amount of RAM. Unlike the PC version, which runs perfectly on fairly low spec systems. Riven seems poorly optimised for Mac, but hopefully updates will resolve this.

Yes! It runs poorly using even Metal FX on the base M1 MacBook Pro. In order to achieve 20-25 fps you need to put most settings at low.

M2 ultra can only play at 1440p?? And it still dropped frames.

Ultra chips have serious stability issues on certain games. It's like half of the GPU cores can't be used. It is not uncommon to see Max chips running faster than Ultra chips.

It should. May have to lower graphics settings and resolution. Make sure MeralFX is on.

I don't know that you could say this is well-optimized when it looks like it's only being tested on an M2 Ultra. That's like saying a game is well-optimized because you're not dropping frames on the fastest PC card.

@@macprotips Yes MetalFX is on. Frame rate is abysmal, stroboscope never shows its spinning (not game breaking, thankfully), and constant pop ins. I have to play with pretty low settings so it looks like an early 2000s game. It's pretty sad. The fish just float in an out of the water. They look mechanical and remind me the waterline is fake .. I could go on 😅

Thanks for the warning! I was contemplating buying this but my machine is too slow. Hopefully this comes out on console in the future.
