I used to be an action and rpg junkie but lately I´ve become interested in these types of slower puzzle atmospheric type games. Will be getting both Myst and Riven remakes esp since they got gamepad support so I can lay around in my recliner and play. Good luck with your channel.

Thank you for the support. And that is something I've been enjoying more recently. I'm always into big RPG games but now I pretty much get to play my old favorite childhood games. There is a total of 5 games in this series, First one is MYST (realMYST is 3D remake), Riven: Sequel to MYST (Riven new 3D remake coming soon), then there is MYST III: Exile, MYST IV: Revelation and MYST V: End of Ages. If you get these games, they are fun to play. Best of luck once you get the games :)

Every single replay of any of the Myst series videos the audio level of the presenter is high and the audio level of the game is near inaudible. Apparently no one listens to his own creation before uploading it to the internet.

I don’t like how atrus just leaves you on d’ni and locks the myst book. He’s supposed to stay there to make sure that riven is stable and look out for the signal. Seems like he’s using you instead of a team effort

The 3D remake will always be different than the original. To be fairly honest, I like the original better…

Sweet! The Temple Island looks simply astonishing... even the character models look vastly improved on! Well, from the last Myst remake, I mean. Some _very_ slight visual jank here and there, but nothing crazy. Of course it's hard to beat a live performance, especially when so much content of this game is already being taken by the level of detail in the islands and everything else, I imagine that's why the animations of people aren't as crazy as in, say, one a them PS5 games. Still, the models themselves? Huge improvement since the last time. Same with Cho's animations, not bad! Tho it's a bit hard to hear him, when he's far away from us at least. The Moiety rebel looks great however. Everything else tho? It looks fantastic... the Star Fissure looks especially good! The large telescope was already there, but I'm not sure about the other bits and bobs, tho they let you look at the Star Fissure more directly and see some of its properties, like it acting like a vacuum. The water rifts, I think they're new too! They're caused by the lava rifts that have opened up, and since the water in Riven is thermophobic, it too opens up while also releasing steam due to the water being heated up! Very neat stuff! Some stuff was also moved around a bit, like the Wizard of Oz-like camera room, so that it's not _that_ close to the room where the illusion is being made, hehe. They also included that crumbling bridge set piece! Gehn would probably have an easy way to get from his Book Production island to the Temple island... which you just destroyed so you can't get there that easily, hehe.

Completely agreed. This game has made major improvements, especially there is now more extra steps to take to get to the other island. As for the destroyed bridge, there is still a way to get there but will most likely be different than how it is in the original. If I'm being honest, I still really like the original but I also like the 3D remakes because of the intense graphics and animation.

@@michaelgr95usa indeed, that's the remakes' main selling point all things considered, it's the enhanced graphical level, and the chance to freely travel through these environments! I do think there's another way to reach the Crater Island, and it's the same way we used to properly reach it - via the minecart used to send wood over there. I dunno if the bridge will still remain there, it probably will since it's gonna act as a shortcut to there, but I'm not sure.

i just played the demo now. it was incredible... but strangely i didnt get any earthquakes....

Interesting… it’s so weird how the game works. Hopefully once I get the full game, the puzzles will basically be the same but I’ll find out once I play the game.

I hate to admit it but I do agree with you. I do like the original better, but when it comes to remakes of the original game, there will be new content involved. For example the first game MYST (1993) had a 3D remake in 2000 that involved a bonus game (meaning bonus content/puzzles).
