I think your videos are absolutely fantastic!! Very articulate and informative. It’s great seeing a top level competitors gear, set up and hearing their train of thought. Some instructional vids of different techniques on the water would be the icing on the cake! Keep them coming mate! And congrats on your win! Cheers. 🎣👍

Hi Howard, Ive been fishing for more than 60 years and I know I could still learn a lot from you if only your videos had subtitles .

Thank you Howard! I find your videos really good and insightful! One possible idea for your future videos could be how to switch from dry fly fishing to dry dropper / nymphing setup/ carrying and or rigging two rods to chest pack. Best regards Teemu Nordlund

I just bought a new vest the other day and my other magnet set up won’t work on my new vest. This is brilliant, thank you. Ordering some of those magnets immediately!

Great video! I went from a magnet to a retractor, but the handle isn’t as accessible for some reasons you’ve shown. I’ll retry the magnet with a solid fixing point like yours on the pack. Regarding your pack, to replace the WJ, look at the JMC Competition chest pack, it also has magnetic closures. I use one and love it!

Do u have any advice on setting a net in a kind of narrow river 10 feet wide, not very deep probably only a a few feet and very rocky. I have no clue what kind of net to use. I have never used a net.

Howard great video, I have tried magnets in the past and found that without some flexabiltiy ie the magnets need some movement to find each other on the join else things dont work well. I used to zip tie a magnet "without the silver keyrings" to the frame net, but found a zip tie created an angle on the magnet that was too rigid, the net kept falling off even with stronger magnets , so I went back to the gear keeper lanyard for consistancy yet have all the problems you mentioned in fishing fast water over waist deep. Am really wanting to try impliment the magnet choice you have. Could you explain in a bit of detail how you fixed the top magnet to the back of your fly vest? (looks like a lot of ducktape? is the angle on this magnet important) Ps also a request how you made your orange gel dispenser box you mentioned dremel and hook box, am willing to give it a shot but just dont want orange dye everywhere lol am thinking you solved that problem. Love your videos so welcome in these trying times.

Hi , So the Magnet needs to ideally be the extra strong type sold by my friend Edgardo from Fly tyers world in Italy . I attach it with 2 extra strong tie wraps to the LH shoulder of my chest pack . I have moved back to my William J pack again and the connection is much neater than on the Simms best in the video above . I’ll upload a picture .

When do we get to see your new chest rig setup? My chest pack is too big, can't see past it when i'm wading or bushwhacking, but i don't like sling packs and lanyards can't carry the weight of everything i want at hand. I'm hoping that your new setup might have some insights on how to better rig the essential gear without being too much of an obstruction. Cheers from california

Hi Patrick, I have actually reverted to my old WJ. Pack again , the Simms set up was ok but just lacking enough storage for my personal needs on a full day.

Great video Howard . My landing net is on its last leg here and was wondering where I can purchase the Greys net that you have on your pack .
@howardcrostonflyfisher92274 жыл бұрын
Jordan Hirsch I made it out of parts , the bag is a Greys rubber mesh off the large pan nets we sell but the frame is an old sharps one I think .

Howard after watching I went straight on greys site for for this net to no avail?, I like the look of that waist coat is that a Hardy or Greys ?

@@OKCKettlebells Contacted the european distributor Howard referred to who said they can ship to the states but the cost would be very high. I'm still searching stateside. Hopefully either Flyfishfood or Tactical will pick them up for distribution.

What gives me problems with the net is wearing a jacket with a hood. Having the extra magnet on the bottom of my vest or chest pack would eliminate faffing about moving my hood to get the net to the magnet on my back.
