I’ve tried this stretch of river quite a few times in the last few years. Watching this will get me back there. Thanks for listening to your audience and making videos that are truly beneficial to all of us weekend warriors!

Hi Tom, i'm a local who fishes that area 3-4 times a month. I fished that exact spot for 6 hours 4 days ago and didn't catch a single fish. There was tons of shad everywhere. You're a better fisherman than me! I'll warn you though. Once you start fishing rivers you never want to go back to lakes!

This was great because of how you attacked a "type" of unfamiliar water to find spots. That's the hardest part for most of us I'm sure - finding the fish in a large area of water with nothing but a map. Would have liked to see the Humminbird views of what the fish looked like when you saw them but it looked like the fish told you more than the fish finder on this trip. Great video Tom and Mitch!.

Tom! As a southern walleye and sauger angler who fishes primarily on various Tennessee River reservoirs it's great to see you pounding river saugers! Even though, on the one hand it might be dumb because the fishing is much tougher down here, I'd love to see you come down our way sometime and see if you could use your expertise to catch some of the elusive monsters we have hiding away.

I live on the Mississippi River Tom, caught several walleye and saugers there in Stillwater Minnesota, you should try Red Wing Minnesota, and Lake Pepin

Your lucky Tom !! I live in Northeast Iowa,, and any lakes, which are not a lot of , are small!! The only Walleye lakes that are in our area are 100 miles and further away. The only Walleye we have is in the Mississippi River!! They (DNR) did stock our smaller river but not many are caught!! There’s to many dams on our smaller rivers and I believe they (The Walleyes) go over them and can’t get back up over the dams to get back up the river? DNR will not stock any of our lakes around here because they are smaller then 400 acres ?? So we’re not in my favorite fish , Walleye county!😞. Thanks for the videos, they get me wound up 🎣👍

Great video as always and crazy to see that you're on my home water I spend over 200 days a year on the St Croix and right the Snap jigging bite right now is really starting to kick off. number nine jigging raps number six hyper rattles depending on the time of day from 20 to 35 ft on those big points below Afton down to Prescott we're catching some days 50 plus walleyes and a handful of saugers mixed in and we've been getting some big ones a couple 29 1/2 and a dozen over 25 in the last two- three weeks. Wish I would of seen you guys out there but I got home in Prescott just before that crazy windy hail storm blew through.

Don't forget to try trolling bottom bouncers with kwikfish or lures that wiggle well at slower speed and troll downstream just fast enough to give the lure action especially in the fall!
@aforgottennativeamerica84393 жыл бұрын
Here in Wyoming the rivers are better then the lakes at the tail-end of spring for about 3 weeks. I think its because the rivers here are much much smaller. The first six miles of river system that feed lakes seem to get crowded with walleye. after the spawn dies down for about 2 weeks after they start heading back to the lake youll start catching the big females.

Tom, You gotta make the trip down to the Detroit river in early April brother.. We who fish the D are master verticle jiggers! You either need to get a vantage, or hop to the front of your boat. Would love to take you out for a day in the spring. would definitely be worth your drive. Lots of potential for a 100 fish day, and definitely have some 30 inchers swimming around.

Tom, Can you describe what you mean by a neck-down and pinch-point? I enjoy your videos. Always informative.
@loos154 жыл бұрын
Those usually mean where massive amount of water is funneled through a narrow area. Prescott is a great example where all the water is funneled through an area about 100 or so yards wide. You can see it quite well on satellite map.
