River monsters - fishing for estuary Bull sharks

These sharks are a constant menace in transkei rivers where they 'tax' your catch without warning. The Zambezi/Bull sharks use Wildcoast estuaries as a nursery feeding on what ever they can sink their teeth into. The distress signals from the hooked fish we are catching serves as a 'dinner bell' to these aggressive apex predators. Top notch series , by far best on KZbin as regards Transkei estuary fishing , hope you get many more followers ! I wanted to ask as as I currently live in the garden route and fish flat out here in the excellent condition estuaries , how are in general in your opinion the state of the Transkei estuaries and effectiveness of the conservation authorities ? 💪👍

Thanks Alessandro. The Transkei estuaries are in a relatively healthy state due mainly to the logistics of getting to them resulting in low fishing pressure. The subsistence locals do not have the equipment to do any major damage. The exception being Port St Johns which has easy access and has been one of the more popular rivers in SA for many years. Unfortunately the conservation authorities are ineffectual in the Eastern Cape.
