Yeah I know what you mean Melissa Bellaise ,I grew up in the 80's & early 90's and used to love his choice of characters & films & the way he seemed to be a little more sensitive & open minded (part of his persona but that didn't feel too far from the truth) .Along with younger actors I liked during that era ( + keanu Reeves & a young post 21 jump Street Jonny Depp doing J.Waters Crybaby ), It seemed like an interesting & different group of younger actors who were able to find strength in their vulnerabilities . It's such a shame that he died so young & in such a public way & I've also wondered what stage of his career he would be in if he was still alive - he may have had a few struggles to overcome & could of ended up doing some awful films ,for all I know, but I can imagine him also making some really amazing, interesting films & continuing to explore being a musician & trying an array of all sorts of media & possibly directing & becoming involved in helping all sorts of causes . It's a shame that we'll never know ,but I'm glad that his brother has become one of the more talented & interesting actors around .

After learning about how much he has been through when he was alive and how he dealt with it, he deserved so much better !! People paint him out as a junkie or drunk, but he was much more than that! He had to take care his family, dealt with sexual assault at the age of 4, and hated being seen as the Mr.Perfect everywhere !! 🙏🏾🥺

At the time of this interview, River's light was still shining strongly. In later interviews you can see that it has dimmed considerably. He was one of the REAL stars that have shot across our galaxy. Of course, like all of us, he had his flaws and conflicts. If he had not got involved with hard drugs I am sure he would have been able to overcome those conflicts. He was smart enough to know that drugs would be his downfall, So why, River, why? But everything is decided by fate, and there's no use in complaining.

***** it was on tv, he went to make a movie, where he was basically in mountains for about 6 weeks or some long time, and when he came back, he got all anxious, so i guess he had anxiety issues, and took the same amount of drugs as he used to do before he went away, since his body wasn't used to it anymore, he over dosed accidently, there was a tv show called Autopsy: The last hours of river phoenix. he took some drug that makes you real low, then real high, theres like, 1% chance of surviving that. he was secretly taking drugs, so when he collapsed at the nightclub with his family, they didnt know what was wrong with him, so took about 10 mins to call an ambulance, they thought he was ill from drinking :(

During the scene where he cries, Rob Reiner the director told him to think of something where he was hurt by an adult in his past. Straight away, River did the scene just perfect and actually cried. It's a pretty interesting fact!

How a person can seem so worldly and innocent at the same time is a mystery to me but River did. At once he seemed mature, discussing the background of his character at the same time his mannerisms revealed an antsy teenager who was answering questions at the behest of others. Polite and mild mannered, River seems more than aware they were playing to the cameras and the wider audience behind the cameras. I enjoy watching these interviews with River in his teen years. Hard to imagine where he would be today if he had been allowed to live!

So sad for a very full of life young man who accidentally made a wrong decision during a night of party time on Halloween in Hollywood at his favorite club scene! Rest in peace River.
