Agree on most of your thoughts on it. I Played the base game without modules at GenCon and immediately wanted something more from it (longer, more strategy), but it sounds like the modules will give me that option. having only played the non-upgraded version i will say it is still very nice to play with as the plastic pieces are still a step up from generic cardboard chits. the double-layer board sounds like the best part of the deluxe version.

The modules definitely add in a lot of the satisfying puzzle for us. You start to care more about shapes and colors and the state of the river than just how many you take. Totally agree the base-game’s plastic pieces are perfectly good. That’s the least necessary upgrade; I think we like the playmat and dual layered boards the most. That said, after filming we took a closer look at the all-in price, and that could affect our statement. Thanks for watching!

Yay, thanks for the review! I backed the deluxe version but with the acrylic stones, as I didn't feel the additional expense for glass pieces was worth it to me. I do like the other deluxe aspects though.

You’re totally right - didn’t even realize that would be an option! The acrylic stones are lovely and hardly make a difference. You got all the goodies you need with the deluxe version!! ❤️
