RIVER vs MOMIMARU REACTION - GBB 23

I think last year's GBB will go down as the strongest GBB lineup. Especially because there was a Top 16. Colaps, River, Alem, Alexhinho, Napom and Gene that's 5 champs. Add Footboxg as the World Champ and KI as 7tosmoke winner. Last year it was legends battling, as Hiss, B-Art, Helium, Elisii, Dkoy and Vocodah all had a lot of experience. This year it's relatively newcomers like Abo Ice, Dilip, Improver, Momimaru etc. Improver did participate last year but didn't make it and Wing did have his showcase, still it's the first time we see them battle in GBB level.

Just want to quickly correct the last year vs last GBB ambiguity: Last GBB (2021) it was Hiss, B-Art, Helium, etc. Last year (2023) it was Ice, Dilip, Improver, etc.

Super high-quality battle - both River' and momimaru delivered big time with little to no mistakes. This really reminds me of River' vs Hiss in GBB2021 in terms of results - Hiss was so strong with amazing structure and execution in both rounds, yet still got smoked as River' was just next level in that battle. This battle is similar imo - momimaru was insanely precise and clean with strong structure and flow. But River' is just in savage mode atm - these rounds from him are so well composed and executed, with incredible variety and levels of technicality almost never seen in beatbox before. And yes, live was much more pronounced in River's favor - his liprolls are so powerful and his general soundkit is well optimized for the live stage. The liproll drop at the end of the first round was absolute insanity live, but the videos generally always nerf liproll bases hard for some reason.

River' was also extremely precise, but significantly more impactful with a much bigger technical range in his rounds alongside stronger overall structure. Clear win for River' really (even in the video format. but live was even clearer).

Wouldnt really say experience was a factor considering momimaru has been battling since 2015 (2 years earlier than river as far as I know), but yeah the things like impact, aura, and structure were big for river.

I dont think River was really louder, but he used a lot of liprolls which just have so much impact live. momimaru almost never uses liprolls in any beat

I seem to be alone on this but...I don't get why people think this is close. For me it's clear from techniques, structure, ideas and execution that River was levels above Momimaru and I get that beatboxing is a "postive vibes only" community, but sometimes reality is just reality and I feel people are just dancing around it to be nice. Momi is a better beatboxer than I will ever be...but River is a better beatboxer than Momimaru will ever be. Facts is Facts.
