The worker that you gain for the phase one bonus goes on your board, so you harvest 9 crops instead of 8 (assuming you have 8 in your pool of workers).

If you have the Klingon Subtitles turned on there is a note @ 1:56 that mentions the worker should being placed immediately and as you state it would in fact increased the crop counts. Thanks!

Definitely go by symbol and not colour for the fields as some are very similarly coloured. This screwed up our learning game in an amusing fashion that greatly benefited my daughter who had been taking charge of that deck 🤔
