Great to see how the stadium took shape starting in 1968. I understand and respect how much Riverfront Stadium meant to the city of Cincinnati.

Growing up in Cincinnati, Riverfront Stadium was awesome to me because it was the place I got to see the Big Red Machine play as a kid. As I got older it still meant a lot to me because I could drive to games with my 2 young nephews and see the Reds play. GABP is nice but Riverfront Stadium is where my baseball memories are. God Bless everyone.

Great stills and video. Part of the very successful and continuing re-development of Cincinnati's downtown river front. As far as architecture, not a hallmark place. As far as wonderful sports performances, a remarkable short history.

I knew that stadium inside and out, every nook and cranny. Great American Ball Park never hit home with me (I was an adult then) but I'll always have fond memories of Riverfront.

For sure man the stadium had personalities they were miserable for opposing teams to play in they had that AstroTurf that was tough to tackle on and to get tackled on. All the stadiums nowadays are built the same they all look the same they all had that stupid fake grass with the rubber pellets. Everyone has to have a new stadium for why? Here in Buffalo New York we've had the same stadium since 1973 we keep it modern updated it still has one of the highest capacities and all of the NFL I don't understand why we almost lost their football team because we didn't build a new stadium still serviceable NFL makes me sick like that. Look at Atlanta they get a new stadium every 10 years and then demolished the old one

@@Davidjon1946 Buffalo has that "stupid fake grass with rubber pellets" too. They almost lost the Bills because Ralph Wilson saw more money in Toronto than Buffalo, but now he has passed, the threat has dropped off

I went to a lot of games at Riverfront and I liked the stadium in some ways but those red seats at the very top were dangerous, trip and you could go tumbling down those concrete steps and get hurt pretty bad. I remember the stadium had that astroturf for the longest time and the ball would take a huge bounce . But anyways I'm starting to warm up to the new stadium Great American ballpark the more I go there..

I can truly appreciate this video, being a native Cincinnatian. I played Little League football at Riverfront twice, in 1975 and 1976, miss seeing it on the bank of the Ohio River...

I wish I could get the ones they used to have like this at the old Yankee Stadium back in the 1970s my favorite one was when Mickey Rivers stole a base (They had a Mick the Quick animation) those were the days! :)

History isn't kind to them which is weird. I liked the dimensions and the speed the turf provided. The polo grounds was 480 to dead center and down the lines a fly ball was a home run. That never made sense to me. I think the site lines were good in the cookie stadiums.

We've played in our Stadium since 1973 Rich stadium Buffalo New York still holds one of the highest capacities and all the NFL. We keep it modern updated clean all new amenities why build a new stadium and ruin all those old memories? We almost lost her fucking football team to Toronto Canada because we couldn't build a stadium so ridiculous Rich stadium is still one of the best stadiums. I hate that shit everyone demanding a new stadium look at Atlanta the Georgia Dome was built in what 1993 1994? And they knocked it down didn't even turn it into anything what a waste of money for the taxpayers and the City

I definitely can. Crosley had an intimate feel to it, but Riverfront was suited to the Big Red Machine - a hitters delight made for speed as well. Thankfully we had Bob Howsam who tailored the Reds for those attributes. I still miss it despite looking like a cereal bowl with mold on the bottom
