I honestly don't get the criticism of this show. I watched this in-person and thought it was phenomenal. It was a VERY good fit for Animal Kingdom. The story was a little confusing, but it actually had one, unlike Harmonious. I thought the show just needed some more fountains, show boats and actors, and fire effects. The music itself was fine and the show itself was fine. When they added the characters, in my opinion, it detracted from the show. I hope Rivers of Light returns. It was honestly better than most offerings at WDW and only needed expansion. A few special effects added here, water features added there, and more barges and the show would fill up nightly. Look at Fantasmic. It sells out nightly 30 years later (not that they care to show it any more). They could've included characters into the showboats like Fantasmic. At night, it would be like a night parade and show with enhanced lighting and special effects. I think the show needs to return with more impressive water features (very tall water fountains like Bellagio or World of Color). There's no point in an empty arena.

I worked at this show during my Disney College Program in 2018. Hearing the soundtrack again brings tears to my eyes. I was so naive back then, yet also happy; undoubtedly the best summer of my life.

For it will come back with the grand reopening of DAK. Because that show will have a mixer of the original and new versions, can be very good on all four Disney-themed parks in central Florida.

Interesting so similar appearence to Harmonious, original music like Illumination's, beautiful, unique, features colors, fountains like Harmonious. If people love Harmonious now but hate this then it doesn't make sense. I believe those who love Harmonious are those non epcot and non original music folks who miss HEA and who are invested only in Disney movie songs!

I don't like Harmonious, but the music for Rivers of Light is gorgeous. I think Rivers of Light is a better show than Harmonious, even without any Pyro. Honestly, Animal Kingdom puts on better show than most parks IMO.
