What I love about this song is how it is definitely honoring some old songs, although I can't quite place the exact ones yet. I know I've heard the intro and first verse chords--they're definitely from an 80s song that I need to place in my memory banks, but it's an homage to something famous from back then. The pre-chorus is from the 70s, and again I need to go back through my music library to place it. And then the songwriters paired it with that super modern and explosive chorus--just awesome stuff. Also, don't ignore the 70s electric organ underpinning the chorus. Probably the Hammond XK-5, but if they really wanted to take it old skool, they might have scrounged up a vintage B-3.
