Well......we almost made it to Lida M. Henry Elementary School but turned left instead. But, thanks for the video. Things have changed since I lived there 53 years ago. But the railroad tracks never changed! LA Freight conductor so I've crossed Riverside Ave a few times ! Belongs to Metrolink now but we still have track rights.

Foothill Blvd. (Route 66) was the main route we used to take between San Bernardino and Pasadena to visit relatives. That was before there was a highway 10.

@@Journeytoaddiction. Never buy gasoline from the new union 76 , Beyond on Riverside and Randall. The owner is corrupt and in collusion with corrupt city mafia. Now the Rialto city government has become corrupt and only interested in money , a mafia. Their code enforcement are bullies, they walk into people’s property without permission and yell and disrespect. They are a waste of taxpayers money and need to be fired and replaced. They threaten and harass property owners with fines. They accept bribes from unscrupulous businesses owners.

Just past the Rialto Downtown shopping area, there's a couple of points of interest. On the Northwest corner of 1st and Riverside is a building that used to be the Sheriff's office and jail (circa 1900). On the Southwest corner is the parking lot for Cuca's Mexican Restaurant, which was converted from an old Train Station. The tracks are still there. Just past the railroad tracks are small white cottages that used to house railroad workers. And just past that is the Old Church (now home to Rialto Historic Society) that was built in 1907. And past the Church is the Women's Club, probably dating from the 1930's, that is rented out for receptions and events. My family rented it out for a reception after my father's funeral. There are also numerous vintage houses, some of which have been converted to offices. The median with trees and flowers, is a classic design for many towns in the early 20th century. Cities of Ontrario, Upland are 2 towns in the region that have a median on Euclid Ave. I was on the Eisenhower HS cross-country team. When I trained by myself, I used to run up and down these streets. Acacia Ave. was my favorite. I would start in South Rialto, straight up Acacia to Frisbee Park (it was a lot smaller then), cross HIghland Ave., through the wash and into Rancho Verde Golf Course (which is no longer there and now the sight of tract homes).

Wow good info, I never knew any of that thank you for sharing this. I do know frisbee park I used to play Little League baseball there.

Cuca’s restaurant went belly up during the plandemic. It was the train station then it was a radiator shop for many years. Now it’s just another abandoned building.

there used to be an old downtown San Bernardino, but much of it was torn down to build the Central City (later Carousel) Mall. The Harris Department Store was a remnant of the old buildings that used to be in San Bernardino.
