These videos are fabulous! I love that the excursions are included.

From what I understand when the cities were being rebuilt after WWII the cities chose how to rebuild. Munich chose to rebuild in the old style. Nuremberg chose to incorporate new with the old, but kept the existing aesthetic, colors, building heights, etc. And Frankfurt went modern with the skyscrapers.

Yes beautifully taken care of, except for duck poo , maybe that’s why the lady leading the tour was so upset because the ducks are messing up there beautiful city. Lol.

One of the courses with the Captains dinner had 'apple chip' in it. The chip was the apple. This was either a baked apple slice or a dryed apple slice. Dryed apple slices is an old European tradition and the dryed apple slices are eaten as a snack. Btw a real German breakfast is a Brötchen (bun bread, slice of bread) with some butter on it and slice of meat or cheese or marmelade or omelet or cooked egg on it. We in the Netherlands eat that too

I've learned with cruising you have to follow the anything can happen...rule! You just learn to go with the flow if things suddenly change your best bet is to just adapt lol glad your walking tour was fun! This is a fun cruise!

We had a geese problem at my old church. When they were nesting which was around Easter time, they became aggressively protective of their nests. Children were hurt. Their poop was everywhere! Our priest piped in some wolf howling noises and our geese friends found somewhere else to inhabit.

This has been one of my favorites of your cruise vlogs. Have you ever been on a Viking cruise? Either river or ocean? Thank you for sharing your travels!❤
@parodeejay2 ай бұрын
We haven’t yet! Our only other river cruise this far was on AmaWaterways, but we’re hoping to assemble a block of river cruising next year that would include Viking!! :D

@@parodeejay Viking is a great cruise line. I have sailed several times ocean and river. They give an excursion included at every port. I don't sail with them anymore as a solo cruiser/traveler, too expensive.

I would have liked to see the wines served with each course. Did they give you a listing?
@parodeejay2 ай бұрын
They actually gave us an entire booklet, with a separate page dedicated to describing each wine, which was way too much to try to show in the video!! :P

I hope you did try the cape gooseberries. They are delicious and taste somewhat like pineapple. Just eat the orange colored fruit, not the paper husk.

I’m hoping that you’ll be able to visit a castle or two. There’s quite a few castles in Frankfurt. I’m thinking maybe six I visited when I was there. You’re making me wanna go back to Germany. But I wouldn’t go on a cruise. I would go myself/husband. And just rent a car.

We aren’t a fan of the Canada goose here in 🇨🇦 either. Birth control, eviction, and crating uncomfortable environments to minimize them!
@chuckoneill20232 ай бұрын
Are those actually Canada Geese? How did they get to Europe?
@parodeejay2 ай бұрын
They are! They’ve been “introduced” to a small area of Europe, including the Netherlands and Belgium.

This sounds like a great boat cruise for those without mobility issues, but more walking excursions than many 70+ cruisers could handle
@parodeejay2 ай бұрын
True… they had “easy” pace walking tours, but most were just that… walking tours. Not a whole lot of coach tour type options. We found that with both river cruises we’ve done so far.
@aimeerogers45422 ай бұрын
Sometimes, the non included, extra charge excursion offerings are more amenable to the mobility challenged guest. At least they were on Viking. I have bad knees and can't do a lot of walking.

Why wasn't the top deck open ? Was the river high ?

The height of the bridges and locks on the Main River made it unsafe, but now that we’re on the Rhine, we’re all good!! :P

Wait what a restroom cost money? What if I don't have 50 euros
@parodeejay2 ай бұрын
Most public restrooms in Europe that we’ve seen cost money, yes. If you don’t have payment, presumably you don’t use the restroom. (EDIT: it’s typically 50 Euro cent, or half a Euro to use)

In Europe always carry a few coins because many bathrooms cost, but they’re also nice and clean.

Only because we were on the Main River for half the cruise. If you do full Rhine or Danube, the deck would be open the entire cruise.
