Even if she didn’t play a villain, Riya’s arc was about was a case community versus individuality, notably going from extra to main character/villain and going from irrelevant to being someone for someone to Riya wanting to be an individual by any nearly means necessary within the context of the reality show. Her having little screen time was the point in light of her backstory and when she was onscreen for a good bulk of the game. While Riya playing hero did give her some relevance, she always was getting stuck as the “extra” despite her efforts. It wasn’t until she kept her mouth shut about Lake’s getting booted that she started to make her a priority. While a lot mark this as her origin as a villain, she can argue she more of an anti-villain or anti-hero, depends on your perspective, at the time. While Karol did unknowingly ignite her villain arc, people just write her off as just wanting the money but the cash prize was just the extra cherry on top for Riya’s real reason for winning (highlighted in the episode prior) for her not to resign going back to her family in India. This may sound odd, but whether in a loving environment or on a reality show, Riya was fed up of being just anyone in a group or stuck in the background. She wanted to show that she mattered too, and in the process, since she might as well as take care of herself by trying to win the money. While she did derail herself by knowingly go too far to make herself a villain proper, it is still an interesting way to show how a villain, through their antics and with her backstory reflected in her gameplay, is actually showing growth. Since I noticed season 2 was going for some theme, being growth and growing pain, I’m very on board with her story this season.

That was the point. In light of how things went down in her season, that is why people were expecting more from Dan in the official re-make of season 1, the key difference with these two is Riya was over being irrelevant while Dan was okay not being noticed. In turn, Riya wanted to take matters into her own hands, even if it derailed herself, while Dan was too cowardly to make a move of his own and have someone else, like Tom and Miriam, being noticed more.

Don’t feel bad for Riya. She’s not as bad as Yul, but she’s a straight up evil selfish player
@drunk2284 ай бұрын
That's true, but she's not evil, at least deep down. Her antics are very bad, but she only does it because her fans love her that way, and it's very important to her. She can be understood, and she deserves to be pitied. It doesn't excuse her behavior, and maybe she deserves to be hated, but I really like this character.
@SilverPlayer20024 ай бұрын
@@drunk228funny how this comment was made before the new episode last week. Seeing how she now treated Connor in episode 11 of All Stars, it’s safe to assume she’s fallen down the path of evil as she has little to no regard of humanity or respect for her fellow players.

@@SilverPlayer2002How did you expect her to treat Conner? They left off on bad terms plus he’s a hero and she’s a villain.. I’m surprised she even got on the motorcycle, cooperating with him just a little

I don’t really hate Riya, though, but I still think she doesn’t deserve to win All-Stars after how she chose the path of evil just to think of the fans. There probably should be a Riya redemption arc that I’m hoping to happen….

Riya has really been corrupted. I blame Karol.
@tiffanychan96275 ай бұрын
I think Karol is one of many factors. The competition getting tougher, her pursuit of a larger role, and even Connor deciding to leave (albeit he knew it was coming)
