I don't believe that Rizal join Freemasonry to condemned the Catholic Church and the spaniards in the Philippines. He joined the masonry just like anyone who would like to join the fraternity for their own reasons. I do not blame a lot of Filipnos who are smart and well educated to become a mason during the Spanish era in the Philippines because of the abuses of Catholic friars in the Philippines. I guess much- lost faith in the Catholic religion during that time. I am a devout Catholic but I live in a democratic society now and the present Pope, Pope Francis is a good Pope.
