PLACES TO VISIT IN RİZE
Although Ayder Plateau is the first thing that comes to mind when Rize is mentioned, there are many places to visit and many things to see in this area. Each corner is uniquely beautiful.
CAMLIHEMSIN
It is a district of Rize. It is also known as Fırtına Valley because of the Fırtına Stream passing through the district center. Firtina Stream is formed by the merger of Elevit Stream and Palovit Stream, which comes from Kaçkar and Verçenik valleys, and Ayder Stream. Storm Creek flows into the Black Sea from Pazar, Ardeşen border.
STORM RIVER
Firtina Stream is one of the rivers in the Eastern Black Sea Region and was formed by the merging of the creeks on the slopes of the Kaçkar Mountains facing the Black Sea. Zipline activities are carried out on a fast flowing stream at a very high flow rate. Firtina Stream, which passes through the tea gardens and is decorated with arch bridges, has trails suitable for rafting.
Firtina Stream, located in the Kaçkars, is a frequent destination for foreign tourists and nature lovers as well as local tourists. Storm Creek splits into many branches as it descends from the heights. As these branches flow on the slopes of the mountain, they form many large and small lakes and waterfalls in the forest. Storm Creek has become an ideal center for those who are interested in rafting, especially in recent years.
We recommend that you eat red-spotted trout, especially specific to this region, in the trout facilities established by the Fırtına Stream.
KAÇKAR MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK
Kaçkar Mountains National Park is a national park that mostly extends to Çamlıhemşin district of Rize and partly to Erzurum and Artvin provinces. The 51,550-hectare national park was established on the Kaçkar Mountains, located between Fırtına Creek and Hemşin Creek.
ZILKALE
Zilkale, or Zirkale with its real name, is a castle located in the Fırtına Deresi Valley, within the borders of Çamlıhemşin district of Rize, the first construction date of which is unknown.
Said to have been built in the 14th or 15th century, the castle was used until the end of the 1800s. The four-storey castle consists of eight bastions and a watchtower. The Zil Stream, which is in the form of a defensive ditch, is descended with a ladder. The castle is in the 1st degree archaeological site.
PALOVIT WATERFALL
It is a waterfall located in Çamlıhemşin district of Rize province in Turkey. The waterfall flows from a height of 15 meters. It is one of the waterfalls with the highest flow rate in Rize. Its source is Palovit Creek. It is located within the borders of Kaçkar Mountains National Park.
